Do in ear foam plugs cause hearing damage? Someone told me the pressure damages the ears. I know playing loud music with in ear foam earphones will cause damage. Don't people use in-ear foam plugs to protect their hearing from high volume? Is there any truth to this?

There are 2 ways that in ear foam plugs can cause damage.

1]If they are pushed in too far and too often ,then any wax can be pushed back into the ear and become impacted

2] If they are not changed often, then they can cause ear infections or dermatitis.

Both impacted wax and an ear infection can cause hearing loss. Its really a case of being sensible when using them.
