My father started having a lot of these issues about 18 yrs ago and they still have not been able to help him. he is being told repeatedly that it is depression and anxiety. i cant even imagine going through this for that long. i am thinking of talking to his Dr about testing his hormones . has anyone else heard of these issues in regards to men ?

    Hi Corinne,

Men do experience hormonal balance issues, yes, for sure. Some of which cause aches, brain fog, and mood issues, absolutely).

It would totally be worth having his Thyroid and Adrenal hormone levels checked. And Testosterone also. (My husband's annual physical does not automatically include these things, but can be tested on request. And if you can go with your Dad, please do... I have experienced that my husband "forgets" to mention how tired or achy he is unless I'm there to "remind" him).

It really bugs me that medical research in recent years has revealed so many physiological triggers or participants in causing anxiety and depression, but clinicians' practices are 30 years behind on that info.

We cannot meditate our way out of hormonal imbalances or throw antidepressants at it and expect improvement.

I hope he can get sorted soon!! Praying! And keep us posted.

    Love to you,

    Sara

Yes men go through it. We women struggle with estrogen and progesterone and men struggle with a dip in testosterone. Once men reach 40 it starts to decline. They get anxiety, depression, loss of sex drive, weight gain, forgetfulness, Low sex drive.

    Erectile dysfunction.

    Decreased sense of well-being.

    Depressed mood.

    Difficulties with concentration and memory.

    Fatigue.

    Moodiness and irritability.

    Loss of muscular strength.

Take your father to get tested and maybe they can put him on some testosterone cream. He will feel much better.

    Hey Corrine...

Yes, men do go through this, it's called ANDROPAUSE or in layman's terms: MALE MENOPAUSE!! Many of them also go through a MLC, translation MID LIFE CRISIS. It's a darn shame no one (especially our parents) don't tell us anything about the stages of life! My mother did say that menopause is the change! Change? Shut the front door and call me Mary!! It's wayyyyyy... MORE than the change, it's a friggin' tsunami, to say the least!
