DO NOT TAKE SERTRALINE WITHOUT WATER!!!

Ive been on sertraline for 2 years now. On saturday I paniced and took it without water as i was in a rush... BIG BIG MISTAKE! within seconds of doing this i experienced the worst ever heartburn! it felt like id swallowed a burning knife. Not only that I then felt dizzy, light headed and nauseous. The pain was so severe it had travelled into my back, ribs and arms. I TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET RID OF THIS HORRIFIC PAIN! I tried throwing up but that made it worse, I drank 6 glasses of water which gave tempory relief, breathing excersises, anti-acids , gaviscon, milk... NONE of these worked. I then started to feel so tired and then experienced cold shivers.. AWFUL!

The only thing that actually helped was lying down flat on my back and sipping water, this pain lasted for around 2 hours!

My advice, for the sake of 30 seconds , take sertraline WITH A FULL GLASS OF WATER! and make sure youve eaten something or are going to eat something .

Lesson learnt !! 😦

I always chew my tablets as I can't take any whole!

Take them with food, and I don't have any major problems.

    Take care.

For me it works best with food, just water makes my skin dry, although I`m just at week 4 for 100mg.
