It is always difficult with natural remedies. Often there is not the kind of proof that will satisfy the conventional establishment and naturally the pharmaceutical companies attack them. I have been told by a friend whose opinion I trust (he is a lifelong user of natural remedies and is meticulous in his research) that organic bee pollen will shrink the prostate. I can not offer hard proof myself. It should be taken in its granular form (2 teaspoons per day) and not in a compressed tablet form. It can be taken neat; on cereal; in a smoothie or however you want. It is also a fantastic multi vitamin and contains many amino acids. All bee products are pretty awesome. It may be worth trying and certainly will have no side effects.

Saw Palmetto didn't work for me and properly constructed studies show no impact on prostate.  I found through personal experience that avoiding caffene in any form and alcohol worked best.  If you have a significant other who can perform an occasional prostate massage that works as well.  Devices are also available which are inserted into the rectum and vibrate which can sometimes help.  Try Amazon for this.  Good luck.

My urologist recommends taking saw palmetto, but not for BPH.  Taking to for over a decade has not prevented me needing a second BPH surgical procedure.  Will the saw palmetto prevent prostate cancer?  I don't think the science is proven.  But, I am (maybe irrationally) taking it just the same.

It works for some people. There isn't much risk in trying it, but remember, this is a supplement, not a drug, so it will be 3-6 months before you know if it's helping. FWIW, it didn't help me, but my urologist says that it does work for some.
