Do these forums do more harm than good

On my first day of trying out a forum I found lots of help from people feeling as bad as I did.Someone offered to privately message me to talk which I did and felt like I had almost made a friend I could confide in.Then all of a sudden, all the messaging stopped and it now states this person has opted out of private messaging. This had hurt me and made me feel I must have done something wrong for this person to have cut me off.For someone with self esteem this is very usetting as I dont why this has happened. It makes me wary of baring my soul to anyone else of indeed trusting anyone

I wouldn't take it personally. Obviously, the person you were pm ing with has stuff going on too or they wouldn't be on a forum like this. Just try to remember you count and many on her do care.....they know trust me what you are going thru. Take care and be better.

teresa. jeanne is right. I am on a photography forum & have had help via the PM system from this guy when he suddenly stopped answering my messages. I can see why you could take it the way you did. It turned out that this guy had been diagnosed with severe Parkinsons & that he had just had a bad stroke. No one has heard from him for a while & we all fear the worst. As jeanne said, she must have problems to be involved in the forums in the first place. Don't worry yourself about it. You can PM me any time you like. I have plenty of ailments I can share with you wink
