do you bleed?

I have pruritus ani, but i bleed after every bowel movement! I just found out that I have developed a bacterial infection (which wasn't there before), how are the rips in the skin meant to heal when I go to the toilet everyday?

Its a slight relief knowing im not the only one in the world with this goddamn problem. i've been dealing with it for a couple years now, and its getting to the point where i would rather be in pain than be itching, so i just scratch away with TP until i get raw. ive tried a couple things like washing myself thoroughly with water after every no.2, but although i feel clean its to no use for the itching still persists without fail. i find that when i occupy my mind with things other than the itching it truly helps, but when my mind is idle all i can think of is scratching my poor butthole. anyway, the purpose of me replying to your post is to give you a bit of comfort. at least you know your not the only one with an irritated bum.

I have had this hideous condition for the past 3 years and tried everything with limited or no success. The intense itching has got progressively worse as the scratch/itch cycle continues.

The capsaicin cream seems to be the way to go. In desperation I have bought some today and mixed it with the 3.1 ratio with Aqueous Cream. Sure it burn't horribly for the first 10 minutes but then stopped. So far there is very little itching which I find can be resisted.

I finally feel like I have made some progress with this after all and perhaps we don't have to accept that this will be plagueing us forever!

I've had a similar condition for about 3-4 years and have been prescribed everything from anti fungal cream to wet toilette tissues. I found Timodine cream helps stop the itching and bleeding but it will eventually come back.
