Do you EVER feel OK?

Hi, everyone, as some of you may remember from my previous posts, I have been unwell for over 2 years with what now appears to be ME.

My GP has recently told me that she thinks I have ME but I have not had a formal diagnosis.

Although I had many of the symptoms of ME for over 2 years, it is only since November 2015, when I had severe food poisoning that my symptoms have escalated and I now have severe fatigue all the time, plus this permanent flu like feeling. Even on a good day I feel bad, with 24/7 headache and aches and pains etc.

My question is, is this normal for ME? Do you ever feel OK, if only for a couple of hours.

Hi rob, sorry to hear your so unwell! I've had ME for 2 years now since developing glandular fever and I don't think I've had a day symptom free. I have better days where my symptoms are minimal and I feel good although I think I'm just so use to feeling unwell it's kind of the norm now. I do go through really bad flare ups quite often where I literally feel like I am dying so it all varies.

Have you been checked for vitamin D deficiency? I only found out I am vitamin D deficient a couple of weeks back but apparently it's common in people with CFS/ME. Acupuncture is also really good for ME and yoga smile x

Hi thanks for your reply. My vit D was checked in December along with lots of other blood tests. It was  found to be slightly low, but Dr said 95% of the population of UK are probably slightly low  in the winter and would not be the cause of my problem. Anyway she would not give me a supplement as I have kidney stones which for some reason means I am not to take vit D supplements.

    Hi Rob,

I've not really recovered from Christmas and became very unwell with the cfs/me in January. I've not had a feeling of being ok since July last year. I feel I am more aware of my condition and rest better now. I think that rest is a huge part of this condition and cutting back on activity as much as possible. At present I feel shattered most of the time. Hope is what I focus on and trying not to over do things. Thus, I cancelled my dentists and my cfs clinic appointments this week after an awful symptomatic weekend. I d be a fool to add the extra pressure (a filling at dentists and long jrney to clinic)

Be kind to yourself in however you can. Eat as well as you can and keep your fluids up. Its hard with this condition because extra pressure has such a huge impact. Thus, you're still recovering from November It seems.

    Best wishes

    Beverley

Yes, this is the new normal.  It is important to identify coexisting conditions that might be contributing, like allergies, exposure to mould, heavy metals.

You could also be having what's known as a flare, you can feel worse and better for several months within the overall un wellness of CFS.  THIS CAN SEEM DEVASTATING IF YOU DONT KNOW THAT ITS POSSIBLE.  I HAD A FLARE STARTING IN DECEMBER AND IM NOT COMPLETELY RECOVERED YET, ALTHOUGH I CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY IMPROVE.

Hey Robert, there are a few times, for an hour or so, every few months or so, that I feel good. It is rare, and I look forward to it all the time. But I'm sorry to say that most of the time I don't feel good at all. I hurt almost constantly. I have weird gastro problems, bladder problems, anxiety and depression problems, flu like symptoms all the time. I don't know what to tell you. I know it sounds depressing. It is depressing. But if you find a set of medication, meditation, and a good support network, you will find that most of the time you can cope. I hope this helps. Take care.
