I don't have the swallowing issue, though judging from the posts on here it is very common to have that.. I do have the weakness in my limbs though, usually during a full blown panic attack.. What kind of anxiety do you have? General, health? Have u tried things to keep your mind off of it Like walking, coloring, etc?

Hi, thanks for replying.  I have generalized anxiet and health anxiety.  i also have migraine associated vertigo which causes dizziness at any time or all the time and this morning while dring my hair I suddendly felt the floor drop and from there it all started.  I don't take daily meds for any of this stuff, but i take xanax when it gets bad.  I also am post menopausal and am hypothyroid, and all this causes anxiey also.  I spen most of my days with the dizziness in some form and its scary, but I hate to take the meds for it because i have reactions to anit depressants.

I guess I am just a mess and have to find some way to not be so scared all the time

patty, in the kidnest way, let me breifly tell you what happened to me. i took xanax for my anxiety for 15 years. i took it as ordered only. long story short, it has a very short half life. it leaves your body really, really fast. anyone that has to take it will become tolerant, therefore needing more to have an effect. i had NO IDEA that for years the anxiety i was feeling was from the xanax leaving my sysyem. IT WAS A HORRID DETOX. i can't even talk about it. took 6 months. anyway, talked to my pdoc since i still suffer from anxiety and he later switched me to klonipon, which is longer lasting for a month, and then put me on diazepam which stays in your system a very long time. i can take these and they help before the anxiety gets built up. it has been a life saver for me.  if you take one at night, it is milder ( but you can take more for a panic attack or something) and it slowly releases in your body. when i was on the xanax i would wake up at 2 am with a panic attack ( which was only withdrawal symptom from the xanax but i didn't know that) and have to take another one. now i can take one at night, and it is not quite as strong, but it is working. i just wanted to give my two cents worth. you can think about it. i was just furious because no one told me anything about the xanax leaving your body faster than other benzos. i also have hypothyroidism, take synthroid, and the other thing is you may want to have your hormone levels checked. i was totally screwed up as the endoctrine system is all related, and when i got on a small amount of hormone, my headaches got better, i lost weight and my hair grew back. ( i had been losing hair for a long time)  i had GAD also. and it is horrible. i have to stay at home a lot. but i am trying to learn to accept some of this, which seeems to help with the stress. It is such a horrible thing to go through and others just do not understand it. prozac was also helpful to me in a small doseage. my best to you.......

    Hello Patty

I do not know your age, all I will say that the weaknesses your are feeling can be caused by Stress and Anxiety, and sometime you may get that lump in your throat if you are showing a lot of emotion and going to cry.

If the feeling is persistant and you show weakness in arms and legs. You know your emotional self as I do not know what other conditions you may have.

I know if it was me I would make notes on when you get these feelings and what you are thinking or feeling at that time, especially if you in a stressful situation.

If you can place these feelings, fair, enough. I you are getting ore upset and are worried see your GP.

With anxiety and stress we are in an place where we are sensitized to our bodies and because of that you like many others will need some support that the condition is normal, if you feel that you will be more relaxed and able to control your fears

    Keep a Hold

I have definitely felt weakness in my hands before! I used to work at a pizza place and sometimes I really struggled to put pepperoni or salami on the pizzas because they always stuck together and they were hard to peel apart! It usually happened when I was stressed or hungry it is really weird though sad

Yep,it's a terrible feeling. When my anxiety was at it's highest,I couldn't eat, sleep, focus, and I was doing this weird thing like short swallowing, and that was without even eating. I lost about 30 pounds.I felt like things were moving,I couldn't see straight, and I was afraid to go anywhere, because I felt like I couldn't walk, and I was going to fall down, and the ambulance was going to come and take me to the hospital. I was in a constant state of fear. Oh my god it went on, and on. I finally went bawling to my doctor and she put me on a antidepressant, and within two weeks I felt so good. I been good for years now. I hope you take the bull by the horns and do something about it, so you can feel good too.
