Do you jump right in with an increase or go slowly

Hi everyone, I’ll try and make this a quick question. I’ve been on 50 mg of sertraline now for a little over 9 weeks for GAD. It’s really helped my anxiety a lot but with a little lingering anxiety in the mornings. So my Dr advised I increase to 100 mg, I didn’t at all plan on doing this but who am I to argue with my Dr? Lol. So if I do this should I go straight ahead with the 100mg or possibly start with 75mg for a few days? I’m wondering how bad side effects will be going straight into the 100s?

I go up slow 25mg at a time. I am really sensitive to these things though so others might be able to do 50mg no problem. I am moving from 100mg to 150mg and am doing it by bumping to 125mg first and it has been tough for me. You can always try to go straight to 100mg from 50mg and if it is bothering you, back it off to 50mg. Good luck.

Thanks Chad, I’m thinking as well going 25mg at a time because I’m kind of sensitive to meds as well. Thanks for the reply bro!!

I would try doing an increase to 75mg and settle for a week or two before going to 100mg.

You feel not too bad so maube 75 would be enough!?

Your have a real good point that I didn’t think of, maybe 75 will knock out the remaining morning anxiety??

I went from 50 to a 100 straight switch and side effects minimum but had them really bad for 8 weeks on the 50 took 12 weeks before I noticed a difference on 50

This is what I hear from a lot of people that the side effects will happen but they will not be anything like they were in the beginning

I am upping to 75 mg from tomorrow and have to take 75mg instead of 50 every other day the first week and then every day. This because of my sensitivity to meds.

I would go to 75 instead of straight to 100 if I were you.

Thanks ren I’m a little sensitive to meds as well so I’m thinking I’m going to go to 75 for a while then hit the 100

    I would go slowly.

Try 75mg for a couple of weeks, see how you are on that; it may be enough for you x

I think that’s what I’m going to do, I’m a little bit sensitive to most meds. I always want results as fast as I can that’s why I thought in the beginning to just go straight to the 100mg, but I’m going to take your advice and others and go a little more slowly. Thank you New york
