Do you take anything else with Sertraline?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone here takes anything else along with their sertraline (such as an additional anxiety med, or something else) ?

My doctor prescribed ativan to take the edge off, but I had a bad reaction to it. It actually made my anxiety worse. From what I've read most doctors give a benzo to take temporarily. Unfortunately I can't take those so I am weathering the side effects by myself. I am day 12, but day 7 since upping to 50 mg.

Well, it's been rough but the past two days have been some better. Earlier this week I was having some dark moments and vomiting often. I'm still nauseous, not sleeping well, but definitely not as anxious. Mornings are terrible for some reason, but but lunch time I start feeling a lot better.

Yeah you can take it long term
it's a beta blocker so it doesn't do anything to help the anxiety mentally but it helps with the physical symptoms by keeping your heart rate low which stops the panic setting in. It's relatively harmless as well so long as your blood pressure isn't high which the doctor will check.
In terms of tiredness, I don't think it makes me any worse but I've found the longer I take sertraline the less tired I feel (I'm 4 weeks at 50mg). I don't sleep at all in the day now even though I'm not working at the moment. I just tend to get really tired around 9pm which I don't mind anyway. Hope this helps!

thanks, very helpful info yes
ok i will see how i get on over the next couple of days with anxiety. it's night time now and as i'm typing this i feel absolutely fine, but earlier in the day, it was the total opposite, i felt really awful both mentally and physically. it's so bad and difficult being like that, as most of you know..
i managed to not sleep in the day today, so that's good. i was getting bad restless syndrome at night but i have now been having an osteocare tablet each day (contains calcium, magnesium, vitamin d, zinc) and also, rubbing some magnesium oil in my skin before bed, and that's stopped the restless legs syndrome thank god (at least for now, anyway). there are some proper restless leg syndrome meds out there, but i'm not sure i want to get into those just yet

hey, thanks for the responses everyone
i'm on 100mg sertraline, only been about a week so far (i was on 50mg for a week before that). i have switched from 20mg escitalopram (started on 10mg dose and built up), which i took for about 4-5 months. i didnt get on with escitalopram because i got really bad anxiety on it (especially on waking) and too much negative/suicidal thinking
i was feeling better on sertraline at first, but then got hit with some anxiety today which made it a really difficult day of feeling just awful (but im feeling a bit better now in the evening).
so anyway just trying to get some ideas really, incase i get really bad anxiety again in which case i think i would ask my doctor for something additional to the sertraline. i think one worry i have is, if taking something else alongside sertraline would make me more sleepy, which i really am trying to avoid (because i'm trying to stop sleeping in the day time, because it can often lead to me then not sleeping at night).

I also take Sertraline and propranolol together. I was on the propranolol before I started anti depressants so my doctor said just to continue with them both together. I've been fine.
