Do Your Jeans Still Fit After Two THRs?

Or ONE THR, for that matter!

Aloha - I am not the hippie - my 30 year old son had two. First March 8 LTHR, second July 5 RTHR. He is not in pain, but walking more than 3 blocks is tiring and can cause discomfort. He has a new GP who is intelligent and listens. Also a smart PT person. She gave him tips on walking - neither heel nor toe, but sort of flat-footed. Probably good advice for both of us - we are so afraid of slipping on wet streets and pavement plus leaves! Also how to sit - sort of roll back with your pelvis. And finally, a sort of kneeling lunge. This is easy enough on the left side, a struggle on the right. I tried to do this exercise - easy on the left, but it kills my bad right knee.

Okay, the JEANS. I was asked to pose this question to you - do your jeans still fit after the surgeries? I guess the topography shifted somehow. Same weight, but somehow redistributed. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    alohaaaaa Soos,

so good to see you back here ...where the heck are you now ? USA West Coast ?

Very happy to hear about the listening and intelligent GP ... that makes such a difference, doens't it .. and a smart PT to boot -- interesting take on the way of walking though -

The tiredness and soreness will be with him for a bit longer - 2 major surgeries, so a lot of healing is taking place ... and he was not in the best shape in between ..

Okay, Jeans ... yep, topography has shifted and hips might still be prone to some swelling ... will get less with time ... I am sure that he will find good fitting jeans .. Men are so lucky that way ... I am dealing with expanded waist, belly, no butt - grmpffff

How are you doing darling - will you be staying with him or planning to go home soon ...

    Thinking of you fondly

big warm hugs to both of you

I am back in tighter jeans now (10 months since revision), but admit to using my 'pre-slimming' ones after the operation.

I recently had both his replaced 6 months apart. After my first the, while looking at my post op x ray I noticed on my new hip, my femor was further away from my pelvis than my other hip. After my second the I can only imaging that, since my hips are now wider, my pants will probably be tighter. I've been wearing sweat pants and loose pants since my surgeries.

Hope your recovery goes well, Chris. Thanks for your insight on this. Hard for my son to accept this, as he hates shopping.

Aloha Judith. Hard for a young man to wait. Or wear stretchy pants.

      Thanks. Soos.
