i was put on 20mg fluoxetine purely for anxiety not depression, went back to docs after about a week and a half and they decided to increase my dose to 40mg as i wasnt really feeling any different other than a bit spaced out but was still having panic attacks, but now since on 40mg im waking up every morning shaking and having terrible anxiety all day, could not get an appointment today so was thinking of decreasing the dose myself back to 20mg, is this a bad idea?? cant hande feeling like this anymore, im signed off work and really want to go back but theres no way i can go back feeling like this

      Hi Jo,

Iv been taking 40mg for about 10 weeks, it took about 2 weeks for my anxiety symptoms to ease following the increased dose. It's difficult but try & stick with it, its worth it in the end.

      Wishing you all the best.

thankyou, makes me feel better knowing there is hope, i just dont know if it was a bad idea increasing my dose, its the constant shaking all day thats really getting me down right now, and i wont even go outside the house, but i will stick it out as long as i can x

I was the same it would wake me at night with my whole body shaking & in the day my hands would shake continuously. Fluoxetine gives you some awful side effects but remember they will pass. I feel so much better now about 90% back to normal but its been a hard struggle at times.

Just keep with it & you will get there, try & go for a short walk, that really helped me. I had to force myself to leave the house but the combination of fresh air & exercise really helped. Or just try anything to distract yourself it's so easy to just focus on the illness all the time.

      Take care

      Hi

I'm at 9 weeks- 2 weeks on 20mg & 7 weeks on 40mg. When my dose was increased I had horrible side effects just like you, increased anxiety especially in the morning or if I fell asleep during the day I would wake with it plus shaking, headache & going hot then cold but they eased after a week & I've gradually got better week by week & I'm now just finishing my 3rd week back at work on phase return & I've managed to do 5 hours a day this week with an 8'oclock start something I didn't think I would be doing 3 weeks ago. I like you thought the tablets were making things worse but I found this forum & I've never looked back. There's always somebody on here that's going through the same or has come out the other end to share with you your worries & triumphs. I feel more like myself now, not completely there but fingers crossed in another couple of weeks I will feel great. Keep going, keep posting we are all here xx

Hi yes the mornings are definitely the worst for me, woke up again this morning with terrible anxiety body trembling but I am due for my next appointment at the Docters next week so I'll see what they say, this is my second week since my dose has been increased and so far no improvement, going to try and go for a walk today to ease it a bit, I'm also due back at work in a couple of weeks so really hoping it eases by then, thanks for your reply will update later on today x

    Hi guys,

I've decided after today to drop my dose back to 20mg for now, the anxiety is just too much for me so I'm going to see how it goes just with 20, hope I'm not making a mistake but I feel like it's the best thing to do to ease the anxiety
