Doctor's Visit

Good Afternoon All
As some of you know I went to see my Urologist today. I thought it was going to be a quick in and out visit with him. I was there for 1 1/2 hours. He wanted to explain everything that he felt I needed to know.
First of all he told me from my urine sample that there was some white blood cells. He said that it may be the ending of the infection. But he said to be safe he order me something don't know what but when I get the call I will go get it ( Just got done with 2 weeks of Ciprofloxacin )
Then he ask me how was by diabetes which was strange.I told him I guess it was fine ( I really have not been watching it since I lost the weight. Stopped taking my pills ) The nurse came in and pricked my finger. It turned out to be 156. Which is high. Then he told me my urine very very cloudy and it was.. I know when I set it on the dray You could see the urine and all this white milky stuff on the bottom.
I look on the internet and it said that I could be dehydrated but I drink 6 to 8 bottle of water a day. He they told me that I have partial retro ejaculation. I know I had a low volume but I just thought it was from getting older. It is from my diabetes. So now I have to watch what I eat and no more sweets. I have to get my sugar back under control or I could lose my ejaculation. Been a diabetic for 15 years
It just seamed like one problem after another. I have another problem which I e-mailed him about My orgasm have always be intense but over the last month or so They have been painful. When I have a orgasm my testicles get sucked up inside and the scrotum goes flat. They I have to go looking and get everything back to normal but after I'm very uncomfortable for a few hours. My doctor feel that it all has to do with the pelvic floor and there muscles. He wants me to go for Pelvic Floor Rehab. I will call on Monday. He also said that the only other way to stop that is to ware a ring on the scrotum.
The last thing. Thank God. This has to do with my PSA and the DRE he did. He did the DRE today and said that the prostate did not feel right he said it felt lopsided. Checked twice. ( I did tell him that I feel like I'm sitting on a ball sometime . It could be the infection ) He also said that that my PSA went up again. Not much but the last 3 have been going up and down. These were before 0.4 and 0.7. The last 3 I have had over the last year were 2.2.....1.3......3.8. He said that he know they are not high but he does not want to take a chance.
I have to go back and see him in 4 months. He want to run some test and if the PSA goes up and the DRE is the same. He said that we are going to have to sit down and have a long talk. I know what he is thinking but I don't want to think about it right now. Maybe in 4 month's all will be fine.
Sorry this was so long but I had a very long day. This was a lot to hear.
Good health to all. And please take care of yourself............God Bless...Ken

Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear about your doctor's visit today. I hope it all works out ok for you.
When you get your PSA measured be sure to ask that they also measure your FREE PSA at the same time. This number is an important indicator of possible prostate cancer and should be greater than 18%.
Also a prostate ultrasound might be useful to determine your prostate size right now. It may be growing which could account for your rising PSA though infections is also a likely cause.
If your doctor is worried about cancer do not let him do a blind needle biopsy on you. Instead insist on a multi-parametric MRI with dynamic contrast. This will show any lesions on the prostate that could be targets later on for a possible biopsy.
Hope all turns out ok for you. Any word from Jimjames?
Take care
Howard

Good Evening Howard.
How are you doing.
Yes that was a long appointment.I have to have another PSA done for April I will e-mail my doctor and ask to do the Free PSA to. Just looked at the script and all it said is PSA total. Yes would save a lot of time and trouble.
Maybe the MRI with the dynamic contrast will be better. Had the needle one done 15 years ago. 12 needles. Had every test . Even had a ultrasound up the butt. I think that's what it was. I know the technician said to laid on my side I was was going to some pressure. Thrilling.
About Jim I sent him another PM message about 2 or 3 weeks ago but have not heard anything. Hope his ok.
Thanks again.Ken

Hi Ken! I wish everyone knew about overcoming diabetes completely and getting rid of all of your diabetic shots and medications and starting to recover the health that you could have. The medical profession is not motivated at all to disseminate that information because they can't make money on healthy people. They try to tell you that you are stuck with simply "managing" your diabetes, which means you will always have it and will have to buy medications for it all of your life. You will also have amputations, blindness, failing kidneys, impotence, and many other problems, all of which earn physicians lots of money. My wife's brother, Jon McMahan has finished a documentary about his own recovery from diabetes and how you can do it too. His video series is called "I Thrive." Google it! My wife is a lifestyle nurse who bugged him until he finally decided to do it. Diabetes affects every organ, including the prostate, and taking care of your diabetes is the best thing you can do for yourself. Yes, it takes effort and you might not like the diet at first but you will learn to love it! It takes only two or three months and a bit of self-control until you are a new person with new tastes. Also, you can look on the website nutritionfacts.org to get ideas about reversing diabetes. It is a searchable website. Good luck and may God bless! Bill.

Good Morning Bill
Thank you very much.
Yes being a diabetic is a lot to handle But I just said forget about it. That was wrong on my part. You never forget about it. It will be in your life forever.I'm the only one in my family that has it. They always say it skips a generation Both of my grand fathers had it. They both died young one at 59 and one at 60 My mother's father had his leg cut off and he died anyway.
I have Neuropathy in my legs and feet. I have to deal with my feet going numb. The doctor that I see for them told me that I have to wear shoes all the time because I could step on a nail or something and not feel it. I have lost the muscle on the top of my feet. I can not bend my toes down. When I was younger I could pick up a dime.
I'm going to look up your brother-in-laws information. I will read it and see what is going on. I know my diet is my concern. I will have to watch what I eat again and also my portion size
Again I thank you very much and thank your brother-in-law for the book
Best Wishes to you...........Ken

Hi Ken!
Have you have bought into the idea that diabetes is hereditary? You need to look at the new science of epigenetics. This demonstrates that you can turn your genes on or off, depending on your lifestyle. My wife comes from a very strong family history of diabetes (witness her brother's diabetes). He had no feeling in his feet and burned them crispy at a camp fire because he couldn't feel them. He is still working on his neuropathy from long-standing diabetes. But he has lost over 100 lbs and now is climbing mountains and doing everything. My wife is 64 and still is free of diabetes. My history is very strong for prostate cancer. My father, a physician, got it at about 58. He had the best surgeons and best advice, had a radical prostatectomy, but died with metastasized prostate cancer later in life. Similar story for my uncle. Their father too. In fact every male that I can trace in my background has died with prostate cancer. I have tried to modify my diet and lifestyle but I have discovered that I didn't really have much of a clue. I have taken the advice of my new wife's lifestyle nursing experience and recently changed my diet and exercise program. I was diagnosed with a low grade Gleason 6 prostate cancer about 4 months ago and I am now eating lots of garlic, broccoli sprouts, Brussels sprouts, and other anti-cancer things and stopped all animal products. I expect that my cancer will not show up in a year. Yes, it has taken a while to get used to a completely new diet. But I am now 71 and just cut and split nearly four cords of wood by myself. I feel great. No pain anywhere. Diabetes can usually be cured within a month and you can be off of all diabetic medications. Try it! By the way, Jon McMahan did not write a book, he produced a video. Watch it! Wishing you the best. Bill

Good Evening Bill
I'm just going by what I was told years ago by my doctors and my family. Both my grandfathers had it. My mother and father were fine and so were there brothers and sisters. My brother and 3 sister are fine to. I'm the only one that have it. But I do know that anyone can get it.
Sorry to hear about the prostate cancer in the family. My father died of liver cancer and I do have other cancer in the family. My father did not have a problem with his prostate he died at 82 and my brother is fine at 75. My prostate started when I was 47 with kidney stones.
I have to go back and start watching what I eat and get back to the gym. Gained 5 pounds. That may not sound like much but I do not what to end up weighting what I did at one time 340. Now I am down to 185.
I try to eat more vegetables more chicken then red meat. Yes I did look did not see a book but did find the video. Will watch it later after I get my son from work
Thank you.........Ken

Hi Ken!
For starters, chicken is probably at least as bad as red beef, though neither are good. Again, look it up on nutritionfacts.org. Also, you don't have to worry so much about sugar as about oil and grease, both from animal fat and refined oil from vegetable sources. Yes, sugar elevates your blood sugar but the reason is that oil and grease clogs up your insulin receptors and drives insulin resistance so that your blood sugar is out of control. And don't worry about fresh fruit. It takes someone to help you in your change. When a large study of diabetics was made, most of them were off all of their diabetes drugs in less than a week, but you have to know what you are doing. Again, Jon's video will be an invaluable help. Don't put it off! You can be much better in as little as three or four days, and you will feel it. Bill

Hi Ken,
For what it's worth, Cipro can play havoc with your blood sugar - long after you stop taking it. The FDA made an announcement about this a few months ago, I can't give the link but you can find it easily.
Cipro can also have delayed side effects and I'm concerned (more than your doctor was!) that you say you do have a history of tendonitis. Take care not to strain anything and watch out for aches and pains without any cause for a good few months - maybe a year. Also, don't take a NSAID (e.g. Advil/Ibuprofen etc) if you do get any pains as these can kick off latent side effects.
Cipro and the other fluroquinolones all behave in the same way so don't think you are avoiding Cipro by taking Ofloxacin, Avelox (Moxifloxacin) or one of the others (Levaquin is also one). Their effects are cumulative which means they will eventually get to you, you just have to take enough. People are very different when it comes to enough and some can take very many courses while others are affected after just one tablet!
Hope you fell better soon. Take care.

Thank You
Most of the time I do not have any problem but who knows down the line. Was on Cipro for 14 days and then he gave me bactrim for 5 ( Not 7 like I thought ) I have one more pill. Going to the bathroom very well. The only problem I see is that my bladder wakes me up never had that problem before. I never had to get up to go to the bathroom. Not I feel it. I go right to the bathroom from my bed now. Maybe it will pass who knows.
Thanks again for the information................Ken
