Hi Maureen
Im in Canada
The thing is here, you are sort of
At your doctor's whim so if they dont know what they are doing , then what
I have a very complicated pituitary issue
But our endocrine doctors here arent
Always knowledgeable of rare diseases

And each day it is becoming more difficult to do simple things like walking up stairs
Which I can do
I just get more winded each day

Were you worried about having the test? That could up your blood pressure. When do you find out the results?

When the nurses were doing the test they told me
My blood pressure
I was surprised by my first reading
165/90 , really high for me
After the test it was normal like
127/90

Well I sort of found ojt the results of cortisol
Doctor's office called and said it was normal

Well, that's good I suppose. Must just be frustrating that you still don't have any answers. Are you waiting for any more results? Or do they need more tests?

Still waiting for igf-1 test
Then I 'll see
Thanks for asking

Yes , heard back
Igf was fairly normal
But my basal cortisol was in intermediate range
Which could still mean
Central adrenal insufficiency
Except the doctor
Doesnt really care about that ( i don't think)

Good to hear your igf was normal. I thought that the ACTH stimulation test you had tests adrenal function, so even if your basal cortisol was intermediate or low if your ACTH stim results are normal it means you have sufficient adrenal reserve. So I think it would be unlikely you had adrenal insufficiency.
So what did they suggest to do next?

Hi Chutney
Yes the tests have good results
but it still could mean I have secondary or tertiary adrenal insufficiency
The main reason I wanted to find out is
Because I think I may have a pituitary tumor
But my doctor said he doesnt want to do an mri
Even though I've pleeded with them
So, Basically it is have enough money to see the best experts in the world or just try to live with a brain tumor

Hi Courtney,
Sounds really frustrating! I am lucky to live in the UK and have the NHS so cost isn't an issue for me here. How does it work where you are? If you have to pay anyway then could you just pay for an MRI?
https://pituitary.org/knowledge-base/disorders/adrenal-insuffieciency-addison-s-disease
This website says if you have secondary adrenal insufficiency then you still respond poorly to an ACTH stimulation test

Also you may not know but
Ive had previous mri's that said
I possibly had a lesion so
For now I will just take natural medicine

Hi Chutney
Well, I'm in Canada
Probably similar to UK
don't have to pay for healthcare
But there are gaps where the
Doctors may not know too much
About pituitary disease, etc...
You are right about SAI
But you can respond normally too
To ACTH test
Anyhow, We'll see
I feel okay and I just found out
I can get an MRI in a neighboring province
So it might be a nice road trip
