Dear Kara43170
I so much wanted to put another post on this forum today, to share more of my real thoughts, and more of my real experiences but I'm just so tired it's probably best I do it in the morning. What I did want to sincerely say to you for the moment is : You are brave. You are honest and upfront. You haven't minced your words. You are telling it like it is. All of the above are huge strengths of character and are admirable. You are everything but a "failure". I will pray that somehow, it might be possible for you to have a little sleep tonight.

Kara.
there is a proper weaning method for coming of zopiclone. It's called the Ashton plan.
go back to your gp and ask him to put you on it. Research it yourself online so you can explain it to him. Basically it's a gradual withdrawal using diazepam, but you must do it with gp,s help.
most doctors have not heard of it and are fairly ignorant of the withdrawals we can get when reducing zops. It's horrible, I know as I had same thing happen to me and was put on Mirtazipene tabs. Still couldn't sleep.
doctors are being told not to prescribe these tabs anymore unless really necessary as they have been classified class c drug. Probably because people have abused them in the past. Now the likes of us have to suffer.
i expect my gp to stop mine any month now. It's always a worry.
if you really want to come of them then research the above method.
if you don't, then try another gp.

its clear some doctors are more understanding than others, however google professor Ashton and bring this to your doctor.
Personally, I believe 6 days is definitely not long enough to reduce Zopiclone and the effects. I’d actually suggest if you have been on them as long as 9 years you should be reducing at small doses and replacing it with diazapam.
You first step is to seek medical advise.
Good luck

He there
first off feeling for you right now🙂
You are Not droning on either!!
its really hard when you know what helps and works for you and it's taken out of your hands. This happened to me with propanol a few months back. I wasn't expecting it!,,
. Had to do what was advised.
This is a problem with Zopiclone.. it is only meant to be given for short spells like two to four weeks.
As you know that its a Hypnotic and it tricks the brain to thinking its bed time. Then after that it's is supposed to give you a Pattern then they stop you and that pattern is supposed to continue.... don't work for me pthat I have to say.
Like youve I've been prescribed these for years but I don't take them every night. I find they stop working after a while.
This is a med that's helped you for years and whilst I think they are responsible for you being on it this long.they may have realised how many years you've been on them. The dr you saw may have seen this, not taken in consideration how this wouldn't be of benefit right now for you.
You have been given these for years as aid to sleep then when they take it away it's not good.
Pleae do not buy from the internet. You just don't know what it will be.
My advice hold out till Monday then call your dr day how the weekend has been bad that could you relook at this maybe slower or even taking one every other day.
Pleas try to stay calm. Call the drs Monday, say you've tried.
You are no Faliure you are feeling raw because of this drop in meds it what will be rough, lack of sleep is horrible and this was unexpected for you.
Take care
vicky
