Hi everyone, I started a discussion a few weeks ago about vertigo, I haven't left my home on my own for nearly 4 month not even to do school runs, I'm a 32 yr old female married with 3 children, in November I woke up not feeling myself at all dizzy foggy head ect, when I went out to take children to school I went all funny dizzy anxious and felt like I was walking on sponges, it had happened a few times throughout the year but went as quick as it came, but this time it has stayed, every day for near 4 month iv been to gp countless of times and each time he said vertigo, all bloods came back fine no medication was working and I've tried the lot, anyway it's got to the point I'm nearly house bound scared stiff of walking in food shops busy places ect, and crowds of people it's the worst yesterday I tried to walk to school with my mam and I fell at traffic lights I'd just about had enough so went to a&e they took me really seriously I had a ct scan of brain all fine, and got to see a neurologist after being told it was a 6 month wait he ruled out vertigo straight away which I knew he would as I thought the same, he done lots of tests and said I was suffering from pppd I came home and Google it I ticked every box if anyone else is unsure just Google symptoms of it you could be surprised I thought I was going mad now I have been prescribed medication for this just hope it helps xx

Hi it's a ssris, it's an anti depressant I didn't want to go down this path but I'm at my wits end I knew it wasn't vertigo as it wasn't coming and going iv had no life for 4 month so I'm willing to give these ago, it's like I haven't got a choice, I just want to get better, this medicine was used for alot of pppd patients and has helped and cured 70% of people so fingers crossed x

Michelle ,you name them I've had them ,it's standard med they give you , and plenty out there ,Citalapram is most used ,and I say considered the best for no side affects . They don't work overnight  if going to work at all ,most need to be in your system for good 4/6 weeks ,that's all of them . So don't give up . There are a couple of forums which are good to join ,all with various balance probs . Menieres will give you drops to floor . Anxiety ( anxiousness ) can be part of it ,due to its very nature . Very unsettling condition , some do get respite with it ,hope your one of them . This condition affects all age groups ,youngest I've heard is an 11 yr old boy ,and a 15 yr old girl . Go on You tube there are things to look up in regards to exercises you can try .

Ohh thank you I will do that I'm willing to give anything a try, and no I have had no rest in months I'm fed up, I can't take children to school, daughter to gymnastics or even go into town shopping, my life has changed so much and so hard for the children to understand I use to be out all the time never in so active and always doing things with my family, I was yesterday what hit me the hardest as I missed open day at school wer you go and sit with your children in class at watch how they work, it's the first 1 I've missed and my 5 yr old boy was so upset x

All meds Michelle are trial and effort , Citalopram is the the one mostly given . Some only need short time on them . No meds have suited me , apart from Citalopram ,so stay with them , see how you feel . Think once stress levels get better ,you will know if Citalopram is working .

What I do have is Kalms ,that you can buy from any supermarket ,or chemist ,it's a spray you place on your tongue . Valerian another , go look both up . Kalms and Valerian .not expensive either one ,and another called Quiet Life . Chat things over with your mum ,mums never put you wrong .

I won't say be positive ,over rated word in my book . Just take it one day at a time ,get out and walk in fresh air , even if you got to walk pushing an empty push chair for support . Your children will understand your feeling poorly ,they're smart believe me at catching on . Hope all gets better . XX

      Hi again Michelle,

The reason I asked what meds you were on was because I experienced the same as you, afraid to leave the house, fear of busy places and lots of people. I was never properly diagnosed but I was put on ssri', citalopram 10mg. They take a few weeks or more to have an effect but they did help to the point where I was able to go back to work and carry on as I normally did. The problem I had was that I felt so good after a while and I stopped taking them. Big mistake. After a couple of weeks my symptoms came back

I am back on them but it's been a rocky ride.

I hope they work for you, they seem to have worked for many others reading posts on this site.

      Best wishes

      Juliannah

      Hi Michelle

Have you had a lot of stress lately? My dizziness came back after a period of stress. I was diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis a second time. I am on an anti depressant too (low dose) to keep my stress levels down but what really helped me was vestibular rehab exercises.

Hi Debbie, yes before Christmas in November time I had a cervical cancer scare, and since then I've been like this, everything was fine) but this horrid thing hasn't left me, that doesn't explain the odd episode I had through out the year tho so I'm baffled xx
