Doctors Don't know what this is in my urine, anyone experiencing the same?

Hello, I'm new to this, but I've been experiencing all sorts of problems in my body for around 5 years now and the doctors seem clueless. This is one of the more annoying ones, because it happens almost daily (Now, it used to be less frequent) But I'll be urinating and this sediment just comes out, it can literally change the colour of the stream to white. Often afterwards I get a burning pain right up the urethra.

I've been cleared of kidney infections and STI's, had a cystoscopy which were normal, an ultrasound of my kidneys and two CT scans of the kidneys/bladder. They found i have two tubes coming from one kidney where there's supposed to be one, but said that shouldn't cause issuesl, the cystoscopy was the most frustrating and that bloody hurt. It feels like I'm trying to pass broken glass every time I have this issue.

I've attatched a few photos of it because it's really obvious when you look at the sample, there's a lot of the sediment at the bottom and strange "Clumps" of it elsewhere. (These are the clear bottles, not the ones with preservative salt in them) Now every time I send a sample to the doctor it seems they just do a dipstick test or something because they always say it's normal.

But every day I have pain, every day I pass more of this stuff and that, is not normal. Is anyone else experiencing this sort of thing? Or does anyone have some insight to the issue?

I also ocasionally have issues getting the flow going when the pain is there, and sometimes when I'm washing my hands I get round two and need to change boxers. I'm a male, I'm 21 and I'm pretty sure thaat this is not normal.

Really I wanna know what this stuff is and where it comes from so I can work out how to control it, I'm in pain almost daily so any help is more than appreciated

Thanks, Alex smile

Hi Alex have you been refered to an Nephrologist (kidney specialist) if not then tell your doctor you want to be refered to one. Do you have the sediment throughout the day or first thing in the morning. Even if you have been tested negative for a urine infection you could actually still have one. And some infections need a particular type of antibiotic as I have leant. Just keep going back to your doctor until they get it sorted. Best of luck

Hi, I've not been referred to a nephrologist, only urologists and proctologist (that wasn't fun either) have you any experience with them?

The sediment is totally random, I used to get frustrated because doctors were asking me to search for patterns and I couldn't find any, I would go a few days with the sediment only being at night and then suddenly I would have it first thing or mid day too.

A Uti, wouldn't that get progressively worse over the 5 years I've had it? I had mentally ruled out infection because it seems to have stayed the same for so long

Hello Alex. I have been experiencing similar issues and posted the below on it, does this have any similaries to your symptoms?

    https://patient.info/forums/discuss/cloudy-urine-with-milky-white-substance-401572?page=0#1427545

I am pretty sure this is linked to a build up of semen, perhaps not ejacualting when my body feels it needs to so it is being extracted from the body when urinating

I had read this actually. After posting I looked down and found your thread and it does sound very similar. Not to put too fine a point on it my urologist at one point suggested that I, release semen more frequently to see if it made a difference. It didn't. I had microscopic imaging done of the sediment and it doesn't look like semen cells to me. Though I'm no expert. After this my urologist said it was likely to be cell debris, but conceded he wasn't sure where it was coming from or why there is so much of it.

It's an embarrassing problem, it started out just odd stuff in my wee then a bit of pain. These days it's much worse but it's got slowly worse, so until you get a definite answer as to what it is keep seeing your doctor. In theory they should be able to detect if it's semen by using microscopic imaging.

      Good luck!

Hi Alex, thanks for the response.

Have you tried increasing your water intake? Most days now I drink up to 2 litres of water as well as numerous cups of tea without milk. Whilst this doesnt explain what the problem is, i have seen a reduction in the amount of times i see the white substance and the sting (usually drink alot of water immediately after stinging). I dont believe it is impacted by dehydration but it seems to dilute it for me

All tests have shown there is no infection and I have no other pain or abnormalities therefore I can live with it (because I only get the sting maybe once a month). My only concern, since it is down there, is that it could have some impact on fertility, have you and your doctor had any discussions on anything related to that? I'll keep you posted on anything I find out

I've tried increasing water intake yeah, Urologist reccomended I try drinking cranberry juice too, both to no evail. I haven't directly discussed fertility with him to be totally honest, I've always felt the issue is somewhere between the kidney and the bladder, but that could be wrong.

I'm at the point where I'm literally clueless what to think or try next..
