Ive been feeling a tingling sensation all over my body and its really discomforting. At times my body is very sensitive to cold . Ive been like this for a year it comes and it goes. I dont think ive gotten the right answers to my condition. Im 31 years old and have an anxiety disorder. Ive seen a neurologist already had a Brain MRI done recently and an EMG test to rule out multiple SCLEROSIS , a mass or nerve damage Does anyone know of a good doctor that can help me ? Has anyone in this forum gone thru this .? This is truly my last resort to get answers Im desperate TIA

thank you for your response I’ve never heard of that small fiber neuropathy but I’ll look into it I’ve been like this since I had a car accident and I never seem to get better I just gets worse I’m out of solutions I appreciate your advice and I will certainly take it I’m looking into seeing a neurologist out of town maybe there’s a second opinion for me out there and I hope that you can find your answers too.

Hi funny you should say you were in a car accident as I was as well but Neuro say this hasn't caused my symptoms ,this started 6 months after it, I also have great relief from a shower I have like a 10 min window where the tingling is milder then it builds up again ,this isn't normally what happens when ppl have nerve damage as normally nerves go crazy with heat or cold and react worse ,so Neuros are at a loss what to do with me we sound alot alike

It sounds like your car accident did cause your neuropathy. It is too much of a coincidence that symptoms began 6 months after your accident. Doctors don't always give the right answers. My elbow pain went away four days after I had banged it and it returned permanently 6 months later. 40 years on, it has turned into neuropathy. You know your own body.

you might have Mononeuritis it's where your nerves are attacking your body I was recently diagnosed with it .its a autoamunine disease and I also a form of neuropathy that is so severe in both feet that it caused drop foot in my right foot I just started these treatments called IVIG it's where they use blood plasma from various plasma donor s with medicine called Octogram it is suppose help with these conditions Mononeuritis is not fun at all I tingle and burn all over and in serve nerve pain I take Gapentin for it it helps some but not really so I would ask your doctor to see if that's what you may have also .

How old are you how's your walking strength etc I'm better when I'm up and about when laid in bed it's horrendous sitting down is also bad

IM 31 when im in bed im the most comfortable But when i start my day The tingling starts I can walk well n my strength is still ok Im just afraid it might get worse with time. .My body aches at times like im catching a cold but i get no fever or weakness . I have gone to the ER Several times blood work shows nothing is wrong .

Rocoi you should have your neurologist check your immune system by doing blood work mine did so many different blood and that's when she found out my immune system is low and you could be Vitamins deficient for B 12 , D and your protein level is low too. so I am at risk of infection and Cancer too I had never have heard of Mononucleosis either until my neurologist told me that basically my nervous system is attacking my body I guess there are not to many doctors that know of this condition .I had my Right hip replaced in 2011 and then a month after I dislocated my hip trying to shave my leg that was a big mistake the it dislocated 2 more times it was not fun having it put back in the socket . Then I went to a specialist who did a revision 10/11/11 all in the same year and I needed a blood transfusion and I was told the original ball was too small and that my hip would have kept dislocating. after the revision my Right foot was tingling and burning sensations and hurt bad . then a few years later my left foot started acting up and come to find out I have type 2 Diabetes fun not then I notice one day when I woke up and my whole leg from the knee to the foot was numb I figured I slept wrong on it and I tried to walk then I would fall this lasted a month the first neurologist could figure out what was happening, I have no feel in my feet and my legs tingle and cant feel my legs at times so I got this need neurologist and let me tell you she is a God sin and I am so apprehensive of her to find out what is wrong with me and believing me and not handing another dam pill then she told me about the IVIG treatments they are expensive and you have to fight your insurance to get them to pay for the treat it takes 6-7 months before you will notice a different its suppose to help you get some of your life back or at least help cope with the pain your in daily .

Thank you for this information. I'll have to set up an appointment with my Primary doctor i havent gotten any blood test done there with him only in the ER. Now im seeing my legs get some sort of bruises had never seen that before Im getting worried now. I Know i have bad circulation in my right leg since its the one that tingles and feels numb most of the time. I Really appreciate your response .

Ask for a nerve conduction test. I have tingling and numbness in both arms and hands from old injuries. It was diagnosed as neuropathic pain which worsens with cold, damp weather and clears up completely when it is hot.

I had an EMg test Is that the same test? I started getting numbness n tingling my right side of my face and it went down to my arm and my leg now it seems to be spreading to the other side and it comes and it goes but it’s really irritating test done Came out normal I feel the same way hot makes it better I try to take hot showers and they help a little. i hope i can get a second opinion SOON Thank you for your response i appreciate the advice

Nerve conduction and emg are the same thing. I recently had one which determined i had an ulnar nerve issue.

There are two components to an EMG test: the nerve conduction study and needle EMG. The nerve conduction study is the first part of the procedure. It involves placing small sensors called surface electrodes on the skin to assess the ability of the motor neurons to send electrical signals. The second part of the EMG procedure, known as needle EMG, also uses sensors to evaluate electrical signals. The sensors are called needle electrodes, and they’re directly inserted into muscle tissue to evaluate muscle activity when at rest and when contracted.

It sounds like the car accident may have triggered the neuropathy. One of my injuries was due to a bad blood test which left me with permanent neuropathy. I have been advised by a doctor not to have any more blood tests on that arm, so I was glad my doctor diagnosed neuropathy by my symptoms alone and not by an EMG which involves needles and which could cause me further damage if not done properly. I also injured my other arm by falling on my elbow 40 years ago and I now have neuropathy there too. I have since fallen on the same place recently on two more occasions. My nerve conduction is not good on both these areas.

I have an ulnar nerve problem after falling on my elbow forty years ago. My pain, numbness, tingling and

electric shock sensations start from the elbow and run underneath my arm to my fingertips.

I might have only gotten 1 study done this information is very helpfull thank you so much IM Looking into seeing another neurologist that can give me a second opinion Are there any over the counter meds I can take in the mean time ? IM taking TRIMETHOPRIM but it doesnt help much.

Sometimes doctors only do one study if they have got all the information they need to diagnose you. I'm afraid there aren't any over the counter meds that really help. I haven't found anything myself. I was only offered low dose anti depressants which take too long to work if they work all and can cause nasty side effects so I refused them. There is nothing that gives quick and long periods of relief without side effects. I rely on warm weather in the summer while on holiday and have learned to put up with it.
