Does acne develop a resistance to oxytetracyline???

Posted , 1 user is following.

I had pretty bad acne about 15 months ago, went to see my GP who perscribed me a course of oxytetracyline tablets (2x 250mg twice daily). After about 6 months there was a real improvement, and this continued for another 6 months until all that remained were the scars from a year previous. However, suddenly spots have started flarring up again for no apparent reason - i still take the dosage religiously at the same times that i always took it. It is a right ***** and has been a real blow to my self esteem which had only just begun to pick up again. I was wondering if the bacteria develop some sort of resisitance to the drug and I should consider changing. Any thoughts appreciated.

:I started to get terrible spots after coming off of the pill. I took oxytertracycline for 2 or 3 months 3x day and once gone I have been taking 1 a day for about 2-3 years and cant bare to stop, however, I have recently been a bit low from a couple of viruses and got some terrible spots back on my chin and lump under my chin despite still taking one a day. The doctor has prescribed me back to 2x twice a day. I cant bare the thought of coming off of them as after trying several time over the past years everytime they come back within a couple of weeks! I think taking the pill worked well for me as it controls your hormones which is the root of the problem, unfortunately I cant take them anymore if I could I would!
