Does anxiety/panic attack cause dry mouth?

Hi everyone,

So in my previous post I mentioned about my recent symptoms(lump/mucus feeling in throat). Went to ENT and endoscopy didn’t find anything...

Also I want to know what could cause sudden dry mouth? It’s been happening for a week and anytime during the day my mouth can becomes EXTREMELY dry especially around my throat and my palate. It feels like the saliva glands are all blocked in a sudden or something...this affect my eating so much, hard to taste and chew and swallow. I’m very depressed because of this and just in a week I became so weak...

Anyone ever had similar experience? Could it be related to anxiety or psychological thing?

      Hi Melissa,

How did you deal with it? It’s really affecting my eating...Any advices from the doctor?

I have definitely been affected by this in the mornings, I wake up and my mouth is abnormally and frighteningly dry, to the point where it is hard to swallow. Are you on any medications for anxiety? Some of those can also add to dry  mouth.

Hi Whitney, no I’m not taking any medications since I haven’t been officially diagnosed by doctor that I have anxiety/panic attack. In the morning it’s the worst, after brushing my teeth my mouth became completely dry. During the day I’m always trying to hold off the swallowing to build up more saliva. I don’t know if this is anxiety related(may caused by frequent swallowing or something?)

      Have you been diagnosed anything?
