Are you on any other medications alongside the risperidone?   I know a small amount of diazepam might help to get you towards feeling less anxious. Also an antidepressant to help long term. I am not a professional, just a patient.

Hi ann thanks for replying .. I have bipolar so take lithium for that, been taking that for 4.5 yrs.. a year ago I was in a very bad situation that had caused really bad suicidal thought & insomnia . I was prescribed risperidone which stopped the thoughts & zopiclone for my sleep. As times gone by iv come to realise it's very bad anxiety that I'm experiencing, so I forced myself to tell my phyciatrist about what had happened & that I'd been told I have ptsd.. he said therapy is a year wait il put u on the list.. see u in 4 months.. I couldn't believe it.. I have a 4 yr old who is asking why do u keep crying mummy.. anyhow Sunday I took a turn for the worst.. had to phone the crisis team.. today Theyv upped my dose of risperidone & prescribed me 4mg of diazepam. . Iv research risperidone so much & cnt see anywhere that it helps anxiety.. that's why iv asked on here.. it makes me feel like a zombie have no up & go at all.. Im hoping they give me an anxiety med thatl give me a bit of life. .

You are having a bad time just now, try to hang in there if you can.

I know how you must be feeling and its just horrrible but the increase in risperidone may just be what you need.  We have to look to these professionals to give us advice.  I hate the way they just push pills and we dont feel better,  the diazepam does help anxiety  and does make you feel very flattened, i know all i want is somemget up and go and was hoping risperidone would help, now i am sceptical to start it. .as for what else they might give for it i am not sure especially if you are already on lithium.

do keep pushing for help, therapy is only good if you are well enough to participate and is time limited. When i asked for it imwas told it would be months away.

another day, a holiday weekend and nobody available if needed except crisis  team.  What a life.

Is it bipolar 2 you have?  There seems to be a difference in them.

let me know if you are any better on higher dosage and good luck.
