that is odd because i have low blood sugar, and mine got worse during menopause, must just be down to luck and different way our bodies are handling it, when your sugars drop due to high rise in insulin, you will know, you then produce masses of adrenaline to bring sugars up, this adrenaline makes you feel very stressed, and this is in part, what can make anxiety levels worse during menopause if we eat too much sugar, we need to eat litle and often high protein based meals, with low unrefined carbs mixed in, and keep  refined sugars down to a minimum.

But thats fantastic for you, that should help you immensely during your menopausal symptoms monique!!

Yes Yes Yes.  Recently diagnosed as Type 2 as well but A1C was perfect.  Have argued with my doctor over this, I believe this is a symptom of the erratic hormones associated with menopause (diabetes is caused by hormones too).  Not on meds either, given a BGL test machine, and  every result is in the normal range, it was only the BGTT 2 hour reading that was the cause for diagnosis.  Have no symptoms or physical signs of diabetes either.  So frustrating!!

Yes it is frustrating because when I test my sugar it is in normal range its nothing outrageous when my sister was in the hospital I was asking a couple of the nurses what's normal range and they told me depends on what you eat a normal person without type 2 diabetes blood sugar can go up as high is 17180 but as long as it came down without being treated with medications it was fine these doctors and menopause don't know squat

Ooops I mean the nurses said that if you eat something like pizza or high carb for a normal person without being diabetic there blood level could reach 170 /180 but as long as they went down without medications within the hour or so it's fine these doctors are driving me crazy

its strange you should say this, because at one point i felt amazingly, i remember saying to one of my sisters, didnt feel as though i had my sugar level problems anymore, ive had it for years and i just go on how i feel rather than test my sugars nowadays, and it was during early menopause when hormones are very erratic like you say, did come back down though for me................bummer.  but yes agree, drs, everyone will agree with you on this site, over drs, absolute rubbish, total arrogance of them, they dont know a thing about menopause and what it puts people through, some of the stories you will read...............disgusting.

monique, can relate very well. as davida has also said

my blood sugar was always very normal till peri

the first time i complained to the gyn doc about the way i was feeling - he told me to get my sugar tested. he wasnt comfortable with the aic average test...told me to do the traditional one - fasting and postprandial. both came borderline. so went to endocrinoogist and he luckily told me to bring in life-style changes and diet control after which the sugar tests came normal.

i still dont know what is the best reliable test for blood sugar as also blood pressure ( i had to start with bp meds though)

I've changed my diet again eating fruits and veggies added flaxseed to my smoothies it's working but only just started it a couple days ago I been staying away from meats they shoot to many hormones in them can't deal with it but I hope you feel better

I have pretty much cut out carbs from my diet (flour, sugar, processed food, most fruit).  My meat is all hormone free and I eat as close as to natural state as possible, not making much difference to how I feel.  Bloody hormones...LOL
