Does anyone else feel like they are not believed when in pain?

I was recently diagnosed and am being treated with Amitryptaline for Fibromyalgia. Most days I get up from bed in an awful amount of pain and I sometimes feel that I am overreacting. But I am in a lot of pain. I recently increased my tablets to 40mg and have another appointment with my doctor as I occasionally get the joints in my hands stiff and almost locking in pain.

I just wished I didn't sound like I was complaining all the time, but as most of you will know it is very painful at times.

Hi everyone I'm new & a bit nervous. I have..not what you'd call agonizing pain.. but extreme discomforting pain from the back of my neck down to my hips & it's all due to damaged muscles. I worked looking after elderly people for 25 years & now that I'm (nearly) one myself it has taken it's toll. I take some Diclofenac when the pain becomes unbearable. When asked I always say "Sure I'm grand" when I really feel like saying "How long have you got?". Nobody wants to hear you . so I just smile , shut up & put up

Reading all your news is exactly how I feel was diagnosed about 8 years ago and have tried various medication. The ones im on now are gabapentin, tramadol and paracetamol. They seem to work for me.At first I felt spaced out but as my body got used to them im now fine. As in all cases people think you are telling lies about how you feel because you look okay. When I was first diagnosed after seeing three specialists my doctor told me to research it my self because he did not know anything about it. I have also got chronic fatigue syndrome. Some days I can hardly move. As you all know the pain is terrible and mine is getting worse. I take my last dose of tablets about half an hour before bedtime as I have found this helps me get a better sleep. Talking to other sufferers helps me a lot as I now know im not on my own. I know exactly how everyone feels and can sympathize with you all. Till next time you all take care x
