I had taken my son to school this morning and when i got back home i was exhausted, school morning are hard for me. I went to bed,had the heating on and i couldnt get warm i was so cold with goosebumps. I have had this a few times where all of a sudden i go really cold. I also get hot flushes aswell. Does anyone else get this? I didnt know if its anything to do with the cfs. Also i get like a pins n needles sensation in my hands all the time, like little pins are being put in my hands. Thanks x

I get the exact same thing! When I'm at work in an office I am freezing while everyone else is fine, or even hot! I have to have the heater on, sometimes even in the summer and everyone moans at me! I also get periods where I sweat profusely and I get the pins and needles regularly too.

Only thing is, I am still waiting for a diagnosis - I have my appointment with CFS/ME clinic on 5th November. But it's interesting to hear of someone else who has these symptoms.

Its awful hisnt it, i get exactly the same. My arms and legs get very achy and i have to have pain relief to help it as sometimes when i need to rest i cant because the pains stop that from happening. It was very strange earlier i was shivering i was so cold under the quilt yet the house was boiling hot, i then got the needle feelings in my hands and it still hasnt stopped x

Hi Jade, having CFS for 11 months, researching it, i have felt better the past few weeks. I think ALOT of it comes down to dysfunctioning adrenals, there is also the HPA axis not in harmony, (hypothalamus, pituatary, adrenal), the pituatary is the bodies internal thermostat. In the beginning of my CFS my hands would be very cold, my right hand would be bright red, left very pale, thankfully this has sorted itself out but i am still easilly fatigued. The HPA axis would take some time to heal properly, but with the correct strategies we should feel better within a few weeks. I'm working this very thing right now and it's only been a week and feeling better.

Hi david so glad i know others have also experienced this. You seen to have researched alot about cfs and it has helped me to know you and others can answer my questions. thankyou x

Just to correct, the HPA work with each other to regulate the body, it is the hypothalamus as stated by sunshinemb not pituatary that is associated with controlling temperature. Please look into using specific herbal formulas to address this. We have to try and coax our body well again.

    Hi Jade

This is a common problem with CFS...inability to control body temperature!

The hypothalamus is the body's thermostat and this can be affected!

Thyroid problems also cause inability to control body temperature this can be

    another problem with cfs.

You may also find that if you take your body temperature that it could be a little

on the low side(mine is 36 rather 37).

So I naturally feel cold, legs below knee always cold no matter how warm it is!

I have had this problem for years!

Thank heaven for thick woolly tightscheesygrin!!

    Wierd but that's cfs!!rolleyes

This is really normal with ME/CFS.  I've been found shivering under a blanket in a heatwave before now.  It's like the body totally loses it's ability to adjust to conditions.  I tend to go for cardigans and blankets and long socks instead of thick jumpers as when the temperature swings the other way it's easier to dis-clothe and roll down my socks.  You may want to check out your vitamin and mineral levels with your GP.  I think my temperature and neuro symptoms are worse when I'm low on Magnesium and B12.  ME has several very weird symptoms and any new symptoms should always be checked with your GP as it's easy to miss similar ailments by always putting it down to the ME.

Random question but do any of you get really itchy skin? In particular at bedtime? It's probably nothing to do with it but it seems like CFS has so many random and weird symptoms I thought I may as well check!!

You could try switching from biological washing power to non-biological and see if that helps.  I find my tolerance for stuff that was fine before changed after I got ME/CFS.  So it may be that your body is more sensitive to chemicals or substances you were fine with before.

Yes ive started itching aswell, didnt think anything of it but i have been itching alot past couple of days with the pins and needles sensation also. Dont know if this is anything to do with cfs or not at all

I've had all the symptoms you describe. You may be getting the hot/cold problems because in ME/CFS, the part of your brain that affects body temperature is affected. The tingling (as told to me by my specialist) is probably caused by the small nerve cells in the brain being affected.

I also have terribly itchy skin.  It drives me mad sometimes.  I get hot sweats too, more often in temperatures above 20 degrees C.  My face goes red and sweat pours down my face and drips off my chin if I've nothing to mop it up.  It's only my face and neck that's affected. Occasionally I get the shivers but not very often.  If I put on a wrap when I'm shivering within a minute I'm roasting!  The hot sweats happen numerous times every day.  I'm 72, had a total hysterectomy in 1991, so have left the menopause far behind.  I did put the hot sweats down to side effects of 2 of the pills I'm taking, but maybe that's not the case as I have multiple other symptoms of CFS.

Haven't had unexplained pins and needles though.  What I have had though, which no-one else seems to have mentioned, is restless legs.  Anyone else had this?
