Does anyone experience this? Does it go away?

Alright so Im sure im not the only one here who likes to sleep in. But since starting sertraline I havent been able to and im curious if anyone has this issue.

I can sleep until around 8 am no matter what time i go to bed. But any time I try to sleep past that ill start to dose off but instead of falling asleep I am jolted awake by panic. Then I usually have a panic attack or just bad anxiety for quite a while. I know i should get up and not sleep all day, but ive got nothing to do all day.

Is this a side effect? Does it go away?

Overall id say sertraline has helped my anxiety but this situation has made it very hard to wake up. This experience kind of ruins my whole day and leaves me worrying about it the next day.

I remember this from my last experience taking sertraline.  I would wake up and my vision would be weird and I would feel like a buzzing sensation.   It took a while to go but it did go.   Hang in there Dylan x

I hope so! Im so good throughout the day but when i try to nap/lay down I basically have flashbacks/relive all of my lifes regrets. I am so peaceful and calm when i lay down but end up a panicy mess all day/afternoon. I miss naps.

I think we are so used to being anxious that when we wake up from relaxation it’s like our bodies scream quick be anxious.   It will settle down as you recover I’m sure of it.

How long have you been on Sertraline? I had the same problem years ago with sertraline. It went a way, unfortunately only after 3-4 months.

Probably better to just bite the bullet and get up at 8. I wake early and lie there in a sort of half sleep. Not awake enough to go to the loo ..Which I think is why I wake up lol.. i dont feel anxiety when i wake but im in a sort of vegative sweaty state.

    Hope you feel better soon
