I get shortness of breath too, had it for years. I'd had endoscopies in the past but, apart from gastritis, they showed nothing. Then I had a barium swallow, and that showed I had a hiatus hernia, and an esophageal motility problem (means I don't swallow properly) The gastroenterologist I saw said that hernias can make you feel out of breath, as they can impact on the diaphragm, they can also make you have palpitations, and hot sweats, due to their effect on the vagus nerves, which enter your abdomen through the same opening the esophagus does. Also, sometimes reflux can enter your lungs, when you sleep, and the air sacs can spasm, as a protective mechanism to stop the reflux entering them. Mention it to your GP, so they can check you out, make sure it's nothing else but, yes, I get breathless with reflux. Just as a matter of interest, my brother has Cronh's disease, which can cause your whole digestive tract to become inflamed, and he says, when it affects his stomach ,and esophagus, he too feels breathles. His specialist told him much the same thing, but also added that, when your stomach is bloated, with excess gas from acid etc, it can press on your diaphragm, and make you feel short of breath.
