Hi janette, wish the implant will bring the expected positive outcome!

My health condition is GCA however following this discussion I intend to get familiar with a health condition some friends have it and I want to be able to follow their conversation in an intelligent way.

Wish that all goes well the way you expect!!

    The best of the best!

    Hi janette:

I have a nerve stimulator and it kind of works on my legs but not lower back where I have all the pain.  When I went for the trial, generally you have about 5 days to test it out and if you go for it, then it is permanently transplanted.  I did not have the best mfg around but I cannot tell you the name here.  That would be a means to have me flagged by the moderator.  There are two parts to this process.  1.  You first see the doctor and most likely he will do x-rays of where to place the unit.  Then generally you will meet the doctor again and the stimulator rep.  Here is where the hard sale comes in.  They are going to convince you to get it because they make money for the unit and surgery.  The rep trains you, keeps in touch with you and both doctor and rep are very nice and here is where trust comes into play.  You watch videos of which they provide, look over the publications they give you and finally convince you that this is the way to go.  There is a newer type of nerve stimulator and by reading all other posts, you will get the information.  If you want to, you can write to me using private messaging.  Then I can tell you most all what is available.  Don't fall into it not know what it entails and watch some of the 3rd party videos for the pro's and con's.  First get a good doctor. Usually a neurosureon does the procedure which is generally outpatient at a hospital.  The trial is generally done in a surgical center apart from the hospital.  Above all, just don't fall for their sales talk right away.  People here can help you and you have to also search it out.  The procedure itself is easy for the patient as you are sedated and don't remember what happened.  The first few days, you will be in pain because of the surgery but it does subside in a pretty short time.  By the way I have used a 10's unit before but it only controls certain parts of the body.  If you have pain all over, then the 10's unit is basically worthless.  I hope I have helped you some and others here will be happy to talk to  you.  Good luck to you whatever you decide and feel well.
