Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Most days I have an upset stomach. I pass soft, mushy-like stools that fall apart, they are often orange or yellow in colour . I get a lot of orange/yellow or white mucus too, even when my stools are more solid in consistency. There is always an urgency to get to the toilet, it is very uncomfortable and every day is unpredictable. Some days I can open my bowels up to ten times.

I have bad acid reflux, my stomach is extremely noisy and it constantly feels/sounds like my stomach and intestines are full of liquid. I can sometimes feel the liquid in my stomach moving when I breathe in and out. I get extremely bad nausea and I get some stomach pain and discomfort (usually in my lower abdomen). I also just generally feel fatigued and crappy.

I went to my GP in July and she ran a blood test and some stool samples. She checked my FBC, thyroid, LFT, tTG, and also bacteria in my stools. The results came back fine, but they did find that I was anaemic. I started taking iron supplements and my hb has now returned to normal levels.

I was also given ranitidine but I found that it didn't seem to help with any of my symptoms so I stopped taking it.

I have been referred to see a gastroenterologist, but the earliest appointment I could get was the 27th December. I've been to my GP multiple times and they just keep telling me to wait to see the specialist, but I'm fed up of waiting. It's really getting me down and I have to keep taking days off work.

Does anyone have any clue what this could be? Any advice?!

What are you eating? While you are waiting to see medical specialists perhaps you should consult a certified dietition or nutritionist who can give you a menu that would correct your condition.

I forgot to mention that I've kept a food diary for months and I cant see any correlation with certain foods. I don't think it is diet related.

Before my symptoms started I was extremely healthy and active. I am still eating healthily, but I am struggling to exercise as much as I used to because of how I feel.

Was IBS mentioned? Sometimes with IBS, certain foods do not absorb well and appear in your stool as well as mucus. Nausea, lower abdominal pain that moves about, a noisy stomach, acid reflux and bowel habit change are also symptoms. Iron supplements can also upset your intestines.

No, IBS hasn't been mentioned yet. I have had an upset stomach almost every day since June. I have tried a FODMAP diet and there was no difference.

Also, I have only been taking iron supplements since September and I haven't noticed them making my symptoms worse.

Have you tried coming off the supplements to see if this affects your symptoms? If your iron levels are normal now, maybe you don't need them. Perhaps try that. Fodmap doesn't work for everyone; if you have IBS, some people don't always have food problems.
