Does anyone know what initia stage of Molluscum Contagiosum looks like?

i have had MC for over 4 months now.  I’m treating the last bump not sure if it is MC but I’m treating it with apple cider vinegar anyway.  I think at this point that I’m so paranoid about bumps around my genital area.  I have a lot of of incredibly small bumps.  Not sure if it is MC or just regular skin bumps.  Thanks!

The first stage is starts out as a very shiney and firm dome. Later on the shine reduces as the dome turns in to a more pimple like shape.

Its very easy to mistaken other bumps and blemishes on the skin for early molluscum, and likewise equally as easy to miss new ones for the same reason.

The MC caused my skin to react and I had loads of small pink bumps come up all over my body. Some were in fact molluscum but others wern't and faded away in a week or so. The more pearly in appearance the more probable it is MC as eczema or other skin irritations usually don't appear like that.

I've found that within 5-12 days of potential bumps arriving you can usually positively ID as MC or something else by then. Sadly it is somewhat a waiting game at the first appearance of bumps though.

I haven't see any MC like bumps yet.  It has been 6 weeks.  I should be seen a new MC after 6 weeks, right? However I'm now diagnosed with Fordyce Spots.  I went to Derm. and she said nothing to worry about just like my Dr. said the same to MC.  I only good things about Fordyce Spots that they are not transmitting.  wheewww….  I'll continue to monitor it.  Hope I will never have these nasty bumps again.

I think after 6 weeks you are probably fine but go at your own pace. Once the bumps are gone the virus is gone. Get anything you're not sure about checked out to put your mind at rest. I'm not a guy so can't relate to Fordyce spots but they popped up a lot in discussions when I was reading about MC and from what I understand they're totally benign, non transmittable and you've probably had them forever!

Yeah you really don't need to worry about Fordyce spots. They aren't a virus or any kind of infection, so sounds like you are in the clear! I can't wait to never have to think about the dreaded MC again.

    Hi Anrique

I see this post is old and you have beaten your MC now but for anyone else interested, for me I noticed I would get a shiny pink patch on my skin and then the bump would just suddenly appear out of it. I've not seen anyone else say this so who knows! I guess it's different for everyone.

It's amazing how many random little lumps and bumps you find on your skin after being infected with this virus. The skin is the largest organ and it's not going to be flawless!
