its keratosis pilaris. Not dangerous, quite common, not infectious. The best way to avoid them is to get a stiff body brush or back brush and some mild soap or shower lotion. Baby wash is ideal. Lather up the areas and gently work the brush over the areas in a circular motion...dont scrub or make yourself sore. Rinse thoroughly and dry thoroughly. Every night before bed massage body cream into the areas to soften the patches. A cream that is oat based is ideal. Do these 2 things on alternate days . It will gradually disappear but you may need to repeat once per month.
Try to have a routine of using some oat cream on some of the patches every night.
