I have had vertigo and Really bad in-balance now for 10 years, the neurologist did the relevant test.,thankfully it was nothing sinister..he said it was probably my inner ear that had crystallised...and if would just correct itself..mm..now 10 years later I'm on a walker and or a walking stick for it..depending on where I go.....but I am still waiting..fir it to right itself..mmm.
I have only just wondered as a Fibromyalgia sufferer and also Sjorgrens if my ear fluids have dried up because on the SS. I never have wax in one ear and it gets very swollen on that side of my face and neck..it flares up from time to time, but the vertigo etc is constant..24/7. Grrrrrr. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone if they also have this or anything like it..I am going to the my local doc after Christmas, just ask the question..he probably won't have the answer though...they never do..that's why these blogs are sooooo great..thank you..and Merry Christmas to you all..peas be with you...:-) xx

I dont know if this will help you but there is something called the Epley manouevre which is supposed to help crystals in the ear. The dr moves your head in certain ways and ive heard it works well.
Also my mother in law had terribe vertigo, she was on anti sick meds from the dr and couldnt leave the house some days. Id read somehwere that ginger helped and I happened to have some ginger capsules which i gave her. Within days she felt much better and she went and bought her own supply. i dont think she has suffered since either. Ginger can interfere with any blood thinners so check with dr if you are on anything like that. I dont know how or why it works and the capsules i gave her were liquid gel ginger extract capsules and i think 100mg was the dose.
I hope either of these things proves helpful. Have a merry xmas too.

Interesting to hear this, though. My Sjogren's has been in remission for five or six years, but I've started getting eye problems again this year, and woke with stiff, painful fingers this morning for the first time in years... and I've had mild vertigo for the last couple of weeks! So maybe there is a connection after all.
As a former nurse, specialised in neuro, I know that not all vertigo is down to inner ear problems. It can also be caused by circulation problems to the cerebellum - the bit of the brain right at the base, just above the spinal cord. That's one of the reasons elderly people are prone to falls. I've always suspected that my attacks of vertigo are caused - or at least made worse - by tension. I've been going through a very stressful time in the last six months, but it's finally starting to lift now, which is often the time when stress symptoms kick in. I'm convinced I cause the symptoms by clenching my jaw when I'm tense, which would be quite effective in reducing the circulation to the base of the brain. Whenever I think about it, I try to come back into the present and make a conscious effort to relax my jaw muscles. It doesn't have an immediate effect, but I do believe it improves the vertigo over time.
Hope you find something that helps.
