Hi Lisa,
yes I suffer really bad back pain and first thing of a morning it can take an hour before I can even walk properly and if I've been sitting for more than 10 minutes, I'm bent double. I also have Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis and Spondilitis so I get it from all angles. Have you had Xrays / MRI etc just to check what is going on.

I can imagine you feel at the end of your tether about it all.
With respect, a GP is not a specialist and I would think that the best course of action would be for him or her to arrange for you to see a Rheumatologist who does specialise in this kind of medicine. I first saw one several years ago and they did all kinds of tests including blood, also scans etc to find out what is going on. Perhaps explain to your GP who worried and in pain you are and ask to be referred.

Yes that happens to me. Do you do a lot of physical work because I find that if I do to much physical activity I pay for it for days after. Stressful jobs will certainly make your back tense and then we go to sleep and wake up in agony. Also if you have nightmares the same thing can happen.
I don't know if this happens to you but I have nearly died a few times in my sleep either from reflux( choking on my own vomit) or my throat closes over and blocks my air ways and I wake up gasping for air. Found that happens if I'm having a nightmare. It's amazing how many horrible extremes fibro can cause.

I'm so glad you mentioned about the way your throat seems to close over during the night, not glad that it happens to you of course, but that is exactly what happens to me and it's really really frightening.

Yeah I agree it scares the hell out of me too. I've been for 2 sleep tests to find out why it happens when I'm asleep. The first test showed sleep apnea but I'm still waiting for the results from the second test. The second test is suppose to be more thorough so we will see what comes back.
