Does BHRT/HRT help with severe dizziness?

Hi dear ladies - I have been suffering with debilitating dizziness for 5 months straight with no breaks. Some doctors think it's all attributable to perimenopausal anxiety, others think it could be any one of a multitude of things. But 5 months straight? And this all coincides with what I thought was my last "period" (just spotting) in June of this year. Estrogen levels taken a few months' ago show me as post menopausal. Started spotting again two weeks' ago. Actually started to feel a little better when I was spotting. That stopped, but spotting started again today. And my dizziness/nervous system is so bad right now. Was able to see my OB/GYN today and had a blood test. Am waiting for results and will have an ultrasound next week. For any of you with the chronic dizziness, did you take BHRT/HRT and, if so, did it help with the dizziness? I tried the Prozac route, but was proscribed too high a dose which made me so sick that I will not try anything else along those lines, even at a low dose. Thank you so much for any advice you may have! Take care.

Hi Karen,
I just started BHRT treatment on Dec. 4th. The doctor who inserted my pellets was amazing. He sat with me and went over my blood work with me, he told me I was one of his worse cases suffering from peri menopause. After we went over my labs he inserted 3 different pellets (Natural Hormones) into my hip. Within days I felt like a new person, I went from having hot flashes, sweats, dizziness, digestive issues, extreme anxiety, panic attacks, high blood pressure, fatigue, even paranoia everyday, through out the day and night, 24/7. Since I had the treatment, all of these symptoms have gone away. I also found a specialist who put me on Cymbalta to help with my panic attacks. Cymbalta has very little side affects and within two days the panic attacks and anxiety went away. The BHRT treatment was my last resort. I suffered with this for the last two years, peri menopause took such a toll on my body that I missed a lot of time at work and my blood pressure was so out of control that I was now fainting. I wish I had learned of this treatment 2 years ago, but i'm not complaining. I'm so grateful to be feeling myself again. Now I wake up thanking God for giving my life back to me. Not sure where you live, I know in the UK they don't do BHRT treatments but in the US BHRT is known to many women suffering from Peri Menopause. I believe if you have this treatment done and ask to try the Cymbalta for your anxiety you'll feel better. Good luck my friend.

Hi Theresa - thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful reply. I am so very happy that you are feeling better! I am in the U.S., as well. I am going for an ultrasound on Tuesday, as I had been spotting recently after going months without anything. My OB/GYN suggested that he may refer me to his BHRT specialist to put me on a low dose cream; my blood was taken for another hormone check and we are waiting for the results. Like you, I feel the hormone treatment is a last result, but I have been so sick for 5 straight months with no relief that I am willing to try it. I tried 20 mg Prozac for 9 days this past summer but I got incredibly ill; not sure I am willing to go that route again because I am simply just too scared. I am so very glad that the Cymbalta is working for you. We should not have to suffer like this! It sounds like you have not experienced any side effects from the BHRT, which gives me hope. Thank you and take good care!
