Does Citalopram affect testosterone?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Im on day 21 of 5mg a day. First 10 or so days I would feel nauseous or lightheaded, thankfully the side effects haven't been many and my anxiety has gone down tremendously.

My only problem now is that I have absolutelly no energy to do anything at all, to workout , to go out, to talk to people, I feel like im not happy or sad just neutral. I sleep 8-9 hours a day and my energy levels are at an all time low, I just feel extremely lazy. I know testosterone has a big impact on mood and energy levels so Im wondering if citalopram affects it?

Not sure if its all in my head, or if its the pill. My lifestyle has definetly changed, im used to walking at least 6 miles a day at work, waking up at 5am to workout everyday, going to class, the mall, socializing with people, etc. With this quarantine 80% of that is gone

Yes, but without testing you before/after it'd be impossible to say whether it's by a significant amount.

I'd suggest the lifestyle changes you mention are probably having an effect too, not to mention the 'startup' side effects (e.g. tiredness) that at 3 weeks you may well still be experiencing.

Interesting that you're on 5mg, sorry if this seems a rude question, but is it definitely Citalopram you're taking not Escitalopram? (the latter is about twice as potent so dosage is half)

lifestyle will make a big difference, from personal exsperience at the start of taking it, i lost all intrest in just about everything, zero libedo, zero cook for myself, zero excercise, its something ive had to work at. Please dont be too hard on yourself, were all in a strange place at the minute regarding quarantine
