Yes but some student loans will be counted as income if you're claiming Income Related ESA, regardless of whether you take them or not. If they are available to you and you decide not to take them they will still be counted as if you took them. If you're claiming Income Related ESA then you'll need to speak to the disabled students helpline and they will be able to give you the correct advice because students and benefits are extremely complicated.
You also need to be aware that if it is possible to study and claim ESA then it could go against you when you're next re-assessed if what you do contradicts the reasons for your claim. They could also re-assess you early.
