Does gelatin , magnesium sterate and dicalcium phosphate apply to all vitamins ?

I read on forum that if buying L lysine to help with herpes not to buy the ones that have magnesium sterate , gelatin and dicalcium phosphate . Does this hold true for all vitamins like vit D3 , Vit C , Vit E etc . I looked at alot of brands of vit D3 and they all have gelatin or bovine gelatin , is that ok if you have herpes ? I dont want to make matters worse . Thank you for any suggestions .

Me again. None of that matters and even lysine is debatable. Herpes isn't as sensitive as you seem to think and/or have been led to believe. You don't even need to avoid certain foods, unless you really think something is causing an issue.
My doctor at the STD clinic had the best advice for me when I was initially stressing (he's also a sexual health specialist): You don't need to change any of your usual habits/activities upon diagnosis. Do things like usual and only eliminate those that you observe to be definite triggers. You may have none, so no need to change anything if that's the case. And that's what I did.
So, regarding vitamins et al., there's no need to drill down to that level of detail if you wouldn't have normally. You can buy effervescent tablets of vitamin C that also contain vitamin D3, so zero gelatin, if you're concerned. Over time, herpes will become better naturally regardless of what you do. I have taken so many gelatin capsules since diagnosis, and eaten/drank/done many things that are alleged no-nos for herpes, but my outbreaks have lessened, touch wood.

P.S. I did avoid alcohol (known immunosuppressant) for the first few months while my body adapted to the virus, but didn't cut out or avoid anything else. Slowly worked my way back to my usual alcohol level on a night out and even that's fine now.

Thank you for the kind words.
I totally know how it feels when you're newly diagnosed. I thought I'd have to overhaul my lifestyle and buy all of the latest supplement fads (e.g., olive leaf extract, red marine algae, blah blah blah, etc.), but I am stubborn, lol, so after my doctor's advice in particular, I was like f*ck it (pardon the language), I'm not going to let a virus control me, so I didn't stop/reduce anything, except cutting back on alcohol for a good few months.
I also started eating even healthier than before, but did not cut out any supposedly 'bad' (typically high arginine) foods. There is no credible evidence that these are bad for herpes, and reliable sites tell you to just eat healthily and balanced. As a result, I ate *more* of the things that less credible sites tell you to avoid, lol. I continued to drink buckets of caffeine (not changing that habit, haha), added daily dark chocolate to my diet and even nuts! The most important thing is to be healthy overall. I do take vitamins and supplements, but only standard stuff like a multivitamin, fish oils, extra vitamin C with zinc, and a general probiotic.
Another thing to bear in mind is that one person's trigger(s) may not necessarily be yours, and what you read online are often those with atypically bad cases (which is why they're online seeking help) or other underlying conditions. So, that's another good reason to keep things the same and find out for yourself what your triggers are. You may discover that you don't really have any! Also, things typically improve after the first year (said to be the worst), and I have certainly noticed that with myself.
Just some extra words of encouragement!

HI Thank you for the extra words of encouragement . Lord knows i need that , lol. I just need to do some real soul searching and get over this and get in the attack mode . I've never been weak concerning health issues so i dont know why this time its affecting me like it is. I did want to ask if you are taking acyclovir or valtrex as a suppresent and if it has helped. I havent started to take any of them yet because i am going on vacation in a few weeks and i wanted to avoid another episode of a fib if i could and then i would probably take them when i come back . I have read that acyclovir is very similar to valtrex so i dont know how that will go . My doctor has only offered me the two . I know there is famvir but dont hear too much about that one . Any suggestions ? Thanks

No, I do not take any meds. I was prescribed some for my first outbreak kinda late, so they didn't do much. I had a mild first outbreak anyway, so that wasn't a problem.
Afterwards I took nothing, as I first wanted to see how often I would get outbreaks naturally and also learn to better sense when one was starting. Turns out my recurrences were pretty mild and not too bothersome, so I never bothered to take any oral meds, and still don't, opting for acyclovir cream instead. I'm single and not having sex, so don't need the oral meds to reduce transmission. If that were to change, I would take the meds.
Acyclovir and valacyclovir are both more or less equally effective according to research, so it depends on which you prefer in terms of dosing, cost and side effects, if any. Famciclovir is newer, not approved for long-term usage and costs a lot more, at least the branded version does, which is why it's less popular.
