Does having GS make it harder to put on weight?

Since growing up I have always been on the skinny side. I imagined this was just down to my genetics and being pretty active. But, now that I am actively trying to put on weight for training, I seem to find it a lot more difficult then others. I don't do hardly any cardio and I tend to eat over 3000 calories a day. I was wondering if the higher conc. of bilirubin in the blood, would mean there'd be less bile in the intestines to process and absorb fat? This might explain my stubbornly low BMI.

Anyone else get this problem?

I have GS and have absolutely the same problem. I eat gainer, protein and BCAA but I can not gain weight. Well, it grows a little bit but just muscle when I do gym (but then tired as hell), fat accumulate never worked. smile At the moment my weight is 73 kg and height 190 sm. Dream about 80-85 kg.

    Hi Richie,

23 years old, male, Gilberts Syndrome. Same problem. I am around 55 kilos and 172 cms tall. Supposed to be around 65 I believe. It feels sometimes that I might gain a little weight, but then lose it overnight or something. Practically impossible to gain any weight at all regardless of what or how much I eat. Been like that for as long as I can remember. Used to think it was some other medical condition or perhaps that I just had "high metabolism", but I believe that it is related to GS.

I do not have this issue, I weigh around 94kg, and should weigh in at max 84. But all the reading I have done on gilbert syndrome after diagnosed, gives me the indication that there are variants of symptoms from person to person, so it could be linked. I gained weight because the excesive fatigue I feel makes it difficult to keep active.
