Does it ever gets better?

I've been dealing with depression all my life, since I was 12. I think my worst days have already passed but now I feel tired, sad and apathic. Nothing excites me anymore nor makes me happy and I just stay alive without because I am but I would prefer to not to. I think it is dysthymia.

So my question is: Will I ever be able to be happy again like when I was a child? Does it ever get better? I wonder if the impact severe depression had in me when I was younger changed my brain structure and now I am messed up, doomed to a life of misery and sandnes and will never be normal.

Is it true? Depression changes the brain structure like drugs do with addicts?

Thanks for the insight.

does it change the brain , answer is yes , if you follow on you tube , psychiatrist Dr Tracey Marks, there a wealth of info on moods however in my case too much information can be dangerous , as it sometimes makes me feel overwhelmed.

There's some helpful info on why it takes so long to feel the benefits.

    Hope can be of help
