Does it get better!! Knee Arthroscopy (Chondroplasty/medial meniscectomy)

Hi, thank the lord I found this forumt...so relieved. I had a right knee arthroscopy 2 weeks ago plus
chondroplasty (not sure what this entailed!) and partial medial meniscectomy done. To say I feel worse is an understatement. I have lower back pain now and my knee is very swollen and in constant pain. I had the stiches out and was informed it had been bleeding inside hence the bruising on the leg.. Part of me wishes I hadn't had this done and persevered till as long as I could, in fact I dont really think I was in that much pain compared to now. I wasn't given crutches, or exercise to do, the after care was shody to say the least. but I have been doing small exercises and borrowed a cane for the first week.
Has anyone out there been through similar experience and can reassure me it will ease off as the pain is getting me down at the minute.
thanks for listening

OMG, YES!!!! I too wish I hadn't had the surgery. In far more pain than I was before. And physical therapy makes it even worse. After OR my knee swells 2" larger and turns red and hot...this can not help!! Each day after PT I can't bend it or straighten it, but they tell me to keep Going! We all know our own bodies, I have sufferd a broken neck, 1 ruptured disk and 2 herniated disk in back, and I have had surgery on all of those anf also i have had bilateral knee surgery before as well. You can wrap all of the pain, discomfort and immobilization from all of those combined and it wouldn't even come close to this pain I am suffering from the stupid Chondroplasty and arthritic surgery. Wish like hell I wouldn't have had it!! I would tell anyone who would listen to please don't put yourself through it. I hurt before this surgery but it is far worse now and I don't see any relief in the future.

I hear you... how long ago was your surgery? I am almost 4 months Post op and can function better but knee is def not functioning as well as before surgery. My pain before surgery is gone but now so tight and stiff. I walk and excercising a lot in hopes it will loosen up. Good luck to you

Hi Alden
. I am 53 y old male, my left knee locked some 19 months ago. The surgeon decided partial menisctomy of the teared meniscus but I did not operate. The knee started to get better and I started to walk again but my knee is still weak. Later I made MRI for both knees and found both had torn meniscus. Chondromalacia is also resent. Some surgeons say if I don't made the menisctomy and Chondro plasty my left knee would fall apart, others say excersie is better in my case. I am really totally confused 😕 and don't know what to do. Thank you
