Did it go ok? Will you do the same with the second eye?

      hi Ron

yes it did! first 2 days the drops didnt sting at all. third day now a d eye is little red and drops sting for like 30 seconds@

in the OR they were pushing for IV sedation and I kept telling them I dont want to risk side effects..yes I'm having h second eye done this thur mar 12 with same new tecnis II toric monofocal also for distance. was able to see immediately after, except coming home at night I of course saw huge pineapple things around lights because eye was hugely dilated from the surgery an hour ago!

whites I cannot believe how white it can be! I thought my kitchen tiles looked ivory, but they actually sooo white lol!

I refused the fluorquinolones antibiotic and instead got something else. The fear of this whole surgery was worse before the surgery!

I'm going to go for just the numbing eye drops and zero sedation.its totally do-able...watching the inside of the eye within the eye was amazing...looked like big amoebas swimming under a microscope!

typing with one eye because you lose close up!! will def post more !

      thanks for asking!!

how are you doing with your thoughts on which iol?

love the tecnis toric 11 so far..

oh and my dr uses the ORA in surgery! most places dont have it or access to that machine

I am currently scheduled for one eye only, and unless I change my mind, it will be an AcroSof IQ Aspheric monofocal. The surgeon says I have less than 0.4 cylinder so a toric is not needed.

      .

To my knowledge the Tecnis II is not yet approved in Canada. I also understand the Tecnis II is in a post market trial phase in the US. I am wondering if that means there will be any kind of extra follow up for those using it. Has your surgeon said anything about that?

no the surgeon didnt say anything about follow ups. He has been using this for a few months. I went over this brand new tecnis II because these are about improvements in lens stability. I decided not for the acrysoft for few reasons. I cant recall specifically the main disadvantages because I've read so many things on diff IOL's a good while back!

nothing is perfect but because I need toric, I chose this new tecnis.

also My dr will be using again the ORA machine to get real live at the moment calculations for my astigmatism. most places do not have this extremely expensive machine in the OR, plus the surgeon has to learn and train how to use it.

But its cutting edge technology not seen before in 2 decades.!

Yes, the angle the toric lens is placed in the eye is critical to correct astigmatism. It is said that "Rotation of a toric IOL from its intended orientation can degrade its cylindrical corrective power by 3.3% for every 1 degree (°) off axis." So, at 30 degrees off, the lens correction is reduced to zero, and above that it make astigmatism worse instead of better. The ORA technology helps to get the lens implanted in the correct position. However, after that the lens can rotate. I believe the intent of the Tecnis II Toric lens is to reduce the amount it typically rotates after implantation. I suspect that your doctor will monitor how much it moves and that will be used in the post market study to determine how well the new design works.

thank you! I was just going to do some research on the ORA as I had no idea what it even was..and heard about it when I double checked with the nurse about the exact lens.

my eye tested 4 days after surgery 20/20...Only issue right now is that my eye has excessive tearing causing more discharge.. and one part very irritated by those 3 diff drops!!
