Does ovulation make your ibs bad?

Hi people please help.  I have woken up with awful ibs today and know I was due to ovulate any day, does your ibs worsen ladies around this time or is it my imagination?  I know I've been stressed but it doesn't normally flare as badly as this when I'm stressed.

Ovulation and the period itself make IBS worse.  The two pains mix together to the point it is hard to know which pain is which.  Hormones aggravate IBS.

Thanks pippa, thought as much, you'd think being in so much pain and the age I am they'd pull the bits out that are causing the problems, we have a history of fibroids and all sorts in our family not to mention bowel cancer too which I've mentioned several times and to no avail!  I wonder if I am speakng to the deaf or another language sometimes?

If you have no red flag symptoms, you don't need to worry about bowel cancer.  IBS does not lead to bowel cancer.   I wouldn't let a family history of a particular condition concern you. Everyone has a predispostion to one thing or another. Concentrate on the things you enjoy in life. Health anxiety will only make your IBS worse.

I have found that my IBS symptoms the week before my period and the week during my period have ALWAYS been worse.  Due to changing hormones.  I wish there was a way to avoid the extra pain!
