Does palpating your uterus speed up your period, and is it safe?

Hi everyone,

believe it or not im actually quite a well informed adult, but something has been bugging me for a while. Basically since having my baby two years ago I've been on Cerelle for contraception, and havent had any issues with it- it completely stops my period. A few months ago i got a heavy period for about a week, and since then ive had around 4 periods. basically after my last one started i had the WORST cramp which isnt something i tend to suffer from. anyway, as a result of this i ended up sitting on the toilet for an hour bent double, and naturally felt the need to press in on my stomach (just above the pubic bone) to ease the pain. i did this in a circular motion and noticed almost immediately that i passed a lot of blood almost instantly, and the more i massaged this painful crampy area the more blood was lost. now the following day i had little to no bleeding and my period seemed to finish afterwards, i then panicked that i had actually forced this blood out by palpating my stomach quite so hard? now of course it has snowballed into me worrying ive done some damage! so my question is, is it possible that ive actually sped up the entire process unintentionally? and also, will i be okay? id hate to think ive done something i shouldnt have but it was just a natural reaction to the pain!

im so sorry for such a stupid thought, but it has grown arms and legs in my head! 

I do not believe palpating makes the difference in period speeds. Its possible that it does make a difference in period quantity, and perhaps timing.
