Does Perimenopause cause increased RHR/racing heart when waking?

Has anyone had a steady increase in their RHR (resting heart rate) and if so, was it rather sudden or did it happen over years? Mine was always 58 to 64....then I started to notice I would wake up sometimes with heart going 80 to 90 which would usually subside within half an hour. But now what I've noticed over the last 3 months or so is that my RHR is rarely below 70! So that's an increase of at least 10 bpm. It feels uncomfortable because I'm not used to it.
I had heavy periods starting in May. Never had that before, and that's when the racing heart really kicked in. There's got to be some connection but what really freaks me out is that I never wake up without my heart racing anymore- it is every day now. (Goes away within a half hour usually).
And then daily my heart rate rarely falls below 72. That is quite unusual for me but again ask of this started with the heavy period in May. I had been missing periods off and on, and other symptoms, dry eyes/mouth, feeling cold esp before periods, and other odd things. So I know I'm definitely starting OR IN the perimenopause! Just wanted to know if any of you have had the increased heart rate whether daily and/or upon waking.
I know cortisol imbalance can cause the morning anxiety and heart racing. But the more than 10 beats per minute resting heart rate which came on quite suddenly (same time as heavy periods began) is just crazy... 60 bpm was my usual and rarely went higher and now it goes between about 72 and 78. And if I'm doing anything strenuous forget it! Just getting up the stairs will have my heart racing for about 2 minutes. True, I never exercise... so you could say maybe that's just being in "bad shape". But I was not like this a few months ago that's the thing. I feel like crazy hormones and periods kicked in. I know I tested high on estrogen. I had a 25 day period, then a week reprieve, then a 14 day period (with flooding and clotting). So then I thought well maybe the heart goes faster to create new red blood cells (anemia will cause tachycardia/fast heart rate) so maybe even MILD anemia from several heavy periods would do that. Like getting up the stairs harder because less red blood cells to transport the oxygen.
Damn I feel like I have to become a scientist to figure this crap out! Ugh. I will tell you all the ONE silver lining to all of this though! I have learned to really appreciate the little things... moment to moment. Even just feeling good for a few hours, having a day without a period, or a headache, or my heart racing, or panicky thoughts, or having some good energy. I have learned how to NOT focus as much on the what ifs.... they are still there if I want to obscess on them. But I try not to because that will ruin any good moments I do have.
I hate going thru this, it is very hard and scary, I don't have a husband or family to help support me in any way, and so for me it is a constant battle to try to stay sane and some days it feels like a battle just to survive and stay alive! Which is stressful in and of itself. I'm just tired of my heart racing and feeling like I can't handle any kind of activity. Maybe it is just anemia. I started making "bone broth" which is supposed to be a magic cure (chicken has the highest levels of iron) so I put in one whole chicken plus about 4 chicken livers and the giblets) and 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and boil it for 2 hours. Then remove the chicken but put the bones back in and boil for another 6 hours. This extracts all marrow and amino acids and minerals. I also eat chicken liver every day (70% of daily iron requirement PLUS extremely high in B vitamins, vit A and all kind of other stuff). The iron in chicken liver (or any meat) is HEME IRON which is much more easily absorbed by the body than any iron pills! And you won't get the tummy aches, constipation or other side effects.
Has anyone else tried this for anemia/heavy periods?
Please tell me what your RHR was or is now, does it have anything to do with your hormone level changes, do you get heart racing in the morning, or all day, etc)?
I'm going to get a Fit bit watch heart tracker. You should see all the people writing in with their heart rates! Primarily it is made to track your resting heart rate (you wear it while sleeping too) and it has an app to track over time.

Hi carlycat,
Waking with a fast pulse can be due to a number of reasons. Have they done a full blood workup on you? If not have them do a full panel of tests to check thyroid and such. With estrogen being high it can cause a lot of symptoms as well. Periods can be affected by thyroid disorders also and for alot of people it affected them in there 30's to 40's. There could also be a depletion of minerals as well.
