does shingles move

I've been suffering with recurring shingles for about 9 years now.
It's always been in the neck area and has affected both sides which I know is unusual but not unknown.
My problem now is that I've developed a blistery rash about the cocyx area and it's sore.... like shingles. Not being in a position to have a good look at it I can realy only go on a glimpse caught using 2 mirrors.
Does shingles move location? and if so ......this far?.

i was wondering the same thing. I'm just recovering from shingles (1st time) on my neck and right shoulder to right upper chest. But for some reason I'm itching across my shoulders and upper back.....like the rash before the blisters....it's been going on for a week and still the same.....skin gets red and blotchy....looks like little spots and rash underskin. Does this happen to you or anyone else....are recurring shingles like this? My first shingles were horrendous and I'm suffering from PHN. This new rash keeps itching but noting else.....I hope it goes away. I hope you get better too.

I am truly sorry for your suffering with this agonizing disease.
Herpes Zoster does not skip around to different dermatomes. It may, on rare occasions, cross the midline, as at the neck. The virus will spread to adjacent dermatomes, however. For example, I get Zoster-Shingles in my right ear every three to five weeks for the last 19 years. I have had Zoster-Shingles in my right eye twice, as the nerve root of the eye is next to the ear.
If you are immunocompromised with autoimmune diseases, have Cancer, on Prednisone, Etc, this ups your chances of Herpes Zoster disseminating throughout your body.
Hopefully you have antivirals to treat the Herpes Zoster upon onset of pain/rash in your neck.
I would consider Herpes simplex as a possible diagnosis as the coccyx is certainly a location Herpes simplex occurs. The symptoms and appearance are similar to shingles. There are subtle differences.
In Herpes Simplex, the vesicles-blisters are of uniform size, shape, and appearance and appear together at the same time. In Herpes Zoster, the vesicles-blisters are of different sizes, shapes, and appearance, and occur in crops. Usually you feel sicker with Zoster with more malaise and have more pain at the rash site with Zoster.
In any case, I would see a physician ASAP for diagnosis and treatment. The physician can do a scraping of the fluid of the vesicles-blisters and send it for PCR analysis to a lab to determine the cause ie microorganism.
I hope this helps. Please let me know how you make out.
Merry Juliana

I only realy wanted to know if the rash was possibly shingles, at this stage I don't realy want to turn up at the doctors again, it seems that I have my own seat in the waiting room as I'm there so often. I know thats what he's paid for but it does seem to be getting a habit.
