Does the Mona Lisa treatment stop infections?

Here I am again back in a painful place.  Have been fine for about three months then started with cystitis symptoms 3 days ago burning pee etc used those sachet drinks with little effect so got anti-biotics from the doctor yesterday.  She tested my pee and said it looked like an infection.

Today the VA has flared right back up burning all the way inside and out and also towards the back area.  I am so sick of this problem just when you think you have it under control there it is again.  Is it the infection or the antibiotics or both?  Or should I have upped the Vagifem and continued with coconut oil which I'd stopped using.  The doctor said it is common in low estrogen and will be a regular occurance.

My questions is If you have had the Mona Lisa treatment do you still get infections of the vagina and uretha/kidneys or does it just stop vaginal dryness  I cannot see how having the procedure will make your body create Estrogen.

Hi Linda. Personally my Uti's have been non existent after the monalisa as well as being symptom free of all other issues That is my individual outcome. It has been over a year and I am grateful everyday the atrophy effected me daily for years.

Hi Nancyo and others thanks for feedback it is encouraging.  Can't continue like I am, when I used to smoke cigarettes controlled my life now it is my vagina and I am sick of it, sick of having to remember to moisturise etc sick of utis, sick of pain and burning just plain sick of it all.  Even when things are ok I constantly worry that it will be a problem later or tomorrow of next week or when on holiday or when it is hot weather.  Absolute nightmare so am ringing the clinic tomorrow.

I know exactly what you are going thru. I told my GYN the last time I went there that I think it's criminal that the Monalisa treatment is not covered by insurance because women are suffering and it is cost prohibitive to so many people… It's just not fair to withhold a treatment that works

The ML procedure restores moisture and stimulates blood flow to the vagina and outer tissues ( if that is treated) so that the tissues become healthier. It does not restore your estrogen. That is why the treatment has to be repeated every year or so.With healthier tissue it is hoped you get fewer infections either bladder or yeast or both.

The procedure does not make your body make estrogen. What it does is stimulate the tissues to make collagen (estrogen acts on your tissues to make collagen) and be healthy again like they were when your body did make estrogen. So you can think of the procedure has having an effect on your tissues that is like the effect estrogen has.

I cannot afford the MOna Lisa but I take yuvafem three times a week and finally the feeling of always having a UTI is mostly gone. I know VA is the most frustrating thing ever. I always tested neg for UTI so it was just the VA.
