Does the unreal feeling go away on sertraline?

Hi there,

Looking for some reassurance and other people's experiences with the symptoms of depersonalisation. I'm into my third week of sertraline now at 50mg and I hate this feeling like I am detached from me and watching myself sad

I am trying to be rational and tell myself it is just a symptom but is it always a side effect of this AD?

My sleep isn't that good which I imagine doesn't help either...

Yea I am the same. I think it's both the anxiety makes things around you feel unreal. The medication side effects do the same.

Curious to know what other people think?

Both will ease in time. 3-4 weeks. I'm out the other side now and I'm content and happy [and off all medication] but always aware of how I felt. The depersonalisation is a side effect [Im no doctor] of AD, its like the body is overwhlemed by whats going on and it goes into low power mode. Think of it like that and it becomes less scary.

      Oh wow

Thanks for the hopeful message and reassurance Brian. How long were you on medication?

That's great news that you can once again be happy and content without the medicine - I want that day now!
