Does this look like herpes??

Posted , 7 users are following.

I've just come back from a festival, and yesterday I noticed this kind of rash next to my mouth. I kissed someone a lot who has a beard so I'm really hoping it's just friction burn or perhaps an allergy. He didn't have any active herpes from what I could see - I also gave him oral sex. I'm going to the clinic tomorrow but I would also like to know opinion of people who suffer with it and maybe get some advice... please help!

That to me looks like just irritation. Do you see any fluid like pustules?

No but it only really came up yesterday/a little the day before. I read that at first it looks like redness - does it look like that before a proper break out?

Thanks so much for replying! x

So it popped up the day after you made out? That's normal.. Think of when you burn yourself, it looks much worse the proceeding days than the day of or after... That's essentially what happened to your face, it's like a burn.

When I got oral herpes, mine didn't do what most peoples do, which I break out on the outside of their mouth, I only broke out inside of my mouth. I just woke one day and had some ulcers in my mouth abs by the next there were more and I was in so much pin and very run down feeling. I wouldn't stress it.

Yeah that's very true, it could be just a burn from him, especially since I lean to the left when I kiss so the rubbing being on the right does make sense..

So you got the ulcers straight away or was it a while after?

I got it from my ex husband and who knows, because I didn't kiss him when he had sores ob his lips, so I don't know when I caught it from him.

Now my genital herpes, I had symptoms w in 3 days. Mild discomfort when peeing, mild burning, little itch and had a cluster if fissures. By 5 days after infection, I was exhuasted like I was after oral infection, but a tad worse. I hadn't had sex in 2 yrs and had sex w this guy once and boom... I had symptoms of soreness the day after, but thought it was from going so long w out it, not so.

How many days since you guys kissed?

I haven't had any of the genital herpes symptoms so I'm hoping I'm alright on that front. He did give me oral though so if I start feeling anything like that down there I'll soon know!

We got together on the saturday and were kissing up until I left yesterday, but the redness started on sunday and got worse yesterday/today. It hasn't spread anywhere, just stayed in the same place. I'm using Brulidine to treat it and hopefully make it go away! I have work tomorrow and the last thing I want is people asking questions!

Yes, that's happened to me from someone w a 5 o'clock shadow and I felt raw.

As Nikki mentioned, do you see any pustules/blisters? That doesn't follow the typical pattern ans I sure hope his lips weren't on the side of your face! Hahaha! I doubt he was kissing all the way over there.

That's happened to me before but it mostly happened on my chin - this feels a little different. I think I'm also freaking out because I was daignosed with genital warts a couple of months ago which i've just got rid of - really don't want herpes as well!!

I can't see any blisters but there are raised bits which I'm thinking could be the start of them, or perhaps some scabs might be coming up.

To be honest he was kissing me all over my face all weekend so if he did have it it could have ended up over there XP

I've had it all around my mouth. Is there any itching or tingling? Are you in the states? Not a whole lot you can do about it. Most people get oral herpea at some point. I got it when I was 22 and I got genital herpes 11yrs later, so don't feel so bad. If it was showing up there, then it should be showing up on your lips as well by now if that's what it was.

There's a bit of itching. If I do have it that's very unfortunate but what's done is done I guess! It hasn't spread any, just the same area for two days.

I'm from the UK and I normally go to the clinic on Wednesdays to get my warts checked on and frozen if necessary so I can ask them what they reckon it is, but I still would like to get as many opinions from sufferers as well in the mean time to stop myself from getting freaked out aha

Well I wouldn't freak out about oral herpes. About 85-90% of people get oral herpes by the time they're adults. I was ticked when I fit it, only because my mouth hurt so bad and I was in so much pain, but other than that, I was not bothered by it after that. I actually don't even break out orally after that. I might get a red dot at the corner of my mouth and goes away in a day.

See if you can go to the drug store and get cetaphil and start applying it just in case. Soaking a a warm cloth in water w Epsom salt should relieve inflammation and help clear it up faster regardless what it is..

I went to the docs today and asked him if it was a cold sore, he seems to think it's impetigo or some other kind of infection?!? I'm so confused!!

Was prescribed fucidin which I understand can be used as treatment for both, but I'd really like to know for sure if it's impetigo, herpes, or something else entirely! He wouldn't do a test and said there "wasn't one" for herpes - which I know is rubbish. Think he was just trying to fob me off sad

This is what it looks like today, any opinions would be helpful x

Impetigo is big possibility. (Or Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease) Which is curable. Go get a second opinion to ease your mind regarding herpes. I really don't think that's what it is wink

Thank you Nikki, I definitely will. This guy told me no blood test exists for herpes simplex so naturally I'm a bit hesitant to trust his diagnosis! If it's impetigo I don't know whether or not I should go into work either O.O arrgg x

I will do! He seems to like to get me in and out of that room as quickly as possible, I just won't leave until he does next time!! haha x

Well they recently did a study on how much bacteria is actually carried in a heard and apparently they are pretty nasty.

Do you feel any tingling or itching? Is it painful? I've had impitego as a child and they are painful boils. Have you been picking? Does anything hard come out when you squeeze it?

What a jerk not testing you, he's a liar. Go see someone else, preferably a female.

Yeah there were a lot of little hippy chidren running around as well which is why impetigo is probable XD

It is quite itchy, a bit painful but not too much. I haven't been touching it at all in case I spread it to another part of my face. The little spots only came up earlier - do they look anything like the boils you get with herpes? I'm literally wondering around in the dark here, and google images can be really misleading!

Yeah he's never been very good to me, I think I will ask to see someone else next time or see if there's a different surgery. I live in not a very nice area so good doctors are hard to come by sad

You don't get boils w herpes you get pustules or blisters, that looks like it is full of crap in it.. Just the strange pattern makes me feel like it's not herpes and if it was, why aren't you broken out on your mouth or your genitals? See where I'm going w this? I think you need to get paper towels and squeeze the base of that boil looking thing and tell me what comes out and the consistency.

Then immediately clean your face w soap after popping. Boils from impitego are painful, itchy I don't recall... Been a long time.

      Just looked it up....

      Impetigo Contagiosa

This may also be called nonbullous impetigo, and is the most common type of impetigo in children. It is very contagious. This type of impetigo usually begins with red sores around the nose and mouth.

These blisters burst, leaving a weeping, red rash that becomes crusted. This rash may be itchy but is not painful. Swollen lymph nodes (bean shaped glands that help your body fight infection) may also occur with impetigo contagiosa.

I'll send you the link in private message, since they like to block posts w links here.

Yeah it kind of looks like a whitehead and the little one popped like one as well but a bit more watery than norm. I couldn't squeeze the boil it wouldn't go for some reason. I've put some antibac on it and fucidin. Wonder what it'll look like in the morning!

I thought maybe perhaps someone has kissed me in greeting and had kissed me to the side of my lips kinda thing, I'm not really sure. If that's the case I really hope I haven't passed it on to the fella I was with, he has a young child! sad sadsad

Girl, that is nothing to worry about. Most people get it as an infant or a child. It's not as common as an adult to get it, but most do have it. Do not fret over it.. It is nothing.

Place a hot compress on it and try to pop it after that.
