Does this look like herpes? With *pictures*

Hi everyone. I'm not sure where to start so I'll just jump right in. About 4-6 weeks or so ago I got this oval shaped raised red bump semi near my waistline. About 3 inches below my belly button but on the left side of my body. I have psoriasis so I didn't think anything of it. It didn't hurt or itch or anything. Then last week, Wednesday specifically, when I woke up I noticed it looked like it had turned into a blister that popped. I immediately starting freaking out thinking it was herpes but I haven't had sex in about a year so I assured myself I was over reacting. I always use condoms as well. It doesn't hurt or itch and doesn't really look like pictures I've seen but I know it presents different. Starting Monday this week it's all I can think about and I'm so anxious I'm nauseous and having trouble sleeping and eating. I've been depressed for about the last 3 years but this is sending me over the edge. I want to get tested but I'm so afraid it will come back positive. I feel worthless. Any input helps. I think I'm gonna go get a blood test in the morning.

I seriously doubt it's herpes based on what you've said. If a blood test will bring you peace of mind, then at least ensure you do the right HSV test, so IgG, not IgM. A word of caution: You may well be a carrier of oral HSV-1, so be prepared for that. The blood test cannot determine location, only a swab can, but it sounds like you've left it too for that, unless possibly by pcr swab.

How accurate is a igG blood test thats negative but was non specific?

I would guess fairly accurate, but it's not the common test used , so I don't know for sure. Which brand was it?

Defiantly go get tested asap.! Don't get discouraged if it's positive take it one step at a time. Never feel like your worthless though even though that was a huge battle I went through and kinda still am... I was diagnosed with it at 14 , it's still hard to believe it actually happened ya know. You are something ! No medical condition can define you , your accomplishments and determination define you. Keep your head up. Grass isn't greener on the other side it green where you water it. Since you've been depressed for 3 years sounds like you've have some other things going on as well. Being happy isn't easy you have to work for it. Good luck ! Best wishes ! Stay blessed !!
