Does this sound like afib or something else

Hello I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is afib or something. I've had 4 episodes in the past 2 months where my heart will suddenly start to race which feels like a pounding tickling sensation in my chest and throat then it will suddenly stop after 10minutes. I also feel abit lightheaded, tired and pains in my chest after. Also I'm 18

Hi Adam it could be however its vitality important you get this checked out ASAP as it could be a much more serious potentially fatal heart arrhythmia. Afib is not common in younger people therefore please get checked out. Not to scare you or anything just see a medical doctor soon and they will perform the necessary tests to find out what is going on.

Thanks for the reply. Everytime it happened I've had an ECG but my heart rate had always gone back to normal by the time I've had it done. The doctor's then tell me it's a panic attack or stress and everythings fine but I no full well it's not none of them because I don't panic or feel stressed. I don't think they take me serious because of my age. I've just had a 24hr ECG last week and waiting on the results but nothing happened while I was wearing it. It took me 2 months to get it. I just want to get to the bottom of it just incase it's something serious but noone takes me seriously. I'm going to ask for an 30 day even monitor hopefully doesn't take as long to get that one.

Dear Adam, you should have it checked at your doctors!

Keep pushing for answers Adam! You might want to call 911 for an ambulance next time it happens. Cause they'll come and hook you up right away to a ECG monitoring system and they can print a copy of what is going on before and during transport to show the attending doctor at the hospital. You may be able capture it more easily this way. Hope you find out soon what is going on Adam.

      Hi Adam,

      I bought a

Heal Force 180D Color Portable ECG Monitor With ECG lead cables And 50pcs ECG electrodes from UK Amazon.

This can reord and display up to three traces EKG leads I, II and III or a single lead for over 24 hours.

Can be used quickly with or without electrode leads when you feel an episode.

Will store results in memory and when uploaded to software on a computer will detect exactly where your irregular heartbeats are.

Attached shows a printout from a computer running Windows 10 with pointers to where the monitor has detected an irregular pulse.

The software also has facility to accurately measure your heart intervals, as shown in the image, where I measured my QT interval - a critically important measure for diagnosing the type of irregularity you may be having.

      Regards

      Bob

      Hi again Adam,

The Heal Force 180D Color Portable ECG Monitor With ECG lead cables And 50pcs ECG electrodes

?is a bit over the top because it produces EKG/ECG reports that physicians think are professional.

?You can recognise and record irregular heartbeats using a pulse oximeter like this and it's easier to hook it up in an emergency like I did when I saw the blood flow waveform on my old model displaying my heart rate as 163 bpm which was indicative of atrial flutter and got it confirmed in emergency within about an hour.

??I'd replace my old version with this stand alone wrist version with finger probe.

You'd get all the evidence you need literally in your hand.

      ?Regards

      ?Bob

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into it seems a good idea as I've been waiting 2months to get diagnosed and still at the same stage as when I started.

My last reply didn't make sense because I omitted the pulse oximeter product that I suggested was more practical than the portable EKG monitor. Whilst the latter will produce almost professional quality EKG recording it needs a Windows 10 computer for the full analytical software.  The recording pulse oximeter is just as useful for starting with because it is stand alone.

?If you are trying to catch an unusual cardiac event you need a self contained recording pulse oximeter like this CMS 50FW Wrist Oximeter Bluetooth which has a finger probe for longer length recording e.g. overnight.

You can recognise and record irregular heartbeats using this pulse oximeter which has a plethysmograph waveform display of blood flow and it's easier to hook it up in an emergency.  I did this when I saw the blood flow waveform on my earlier CONTEC model displaying my heart rate as 163 bpm which was indicative of atrial flutter which was confirmed later in emergency within about an hour.

?Furthermore you can set alarm conditions on it which monitor your heart rate and blood oxygen levels and warn you of out of range values e.g. blood oxygen level less than 93%.
