Does this sound like glandular fever?

Hello,

I have had numerous symptoms for two weeks now, leading to various differential diagnoses in my head, but now perhaps thinking it could be glandular fever....?

Symptoms started with really intense migraines for two days, as well as dizzy / disoriented spells. I never get headaches and my GP sent me to A&E to get checked out, which ruled many things out but did not really explain anything. The migraines then stopped but since then I have experienced intense fatigue almost every day, ongoing headaches, shivers and body aches, all of which come in flourishes which I thought was quite strange? I can wake up feeling relatively fine, then around midday it all starts. Most of the aches are around my shoulders, upper arms and neck. The fatigue is intense and leaves me totally exhausted and wiped out. Today, two weeks down the line, I have a really sore and achy groin area. Oh and when I have attempted to go out and do anything, I have still become very dizzy, occasional doube vision, and generally quite disorientated.

I understand that diagnosis would need confirming through a blood test. I guess as I dont really have any throat symptoms, this perhaps may be something else? Although I've had shivers, I've not really had a temperature as such either. I'm a 30 year old male, fit, healthy and pescetarian. Oh and somebody also told me that I'm "a bit old for glandular fever"!?

I've been off work for two weeks and feeling pretty damn guilty. I'm eating healthily, taking vitamins, resting and keeping the fluids up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Stephen smile

Your doing everything good with this GF; however the dizziness and migraine is not part of GF. so there maybe somehing else going on.

GF can happen at any age.

Have your checked out with an infectious diseases specialist/GP.

this sounds kind of similar to how i was feeling leading up to being diagnosed with glandular fever. two weeks prior to getting a sore throat i would get headaches in the mid afternoon getting worse as the day went on with aches in my shoulder and neck, i also had a low fever a couple of days and was just generally achey. then the next week i noticed that i was extremely tired even though i had been getting 9 hours of sleep every night and i still had the headaches and body aches. then the day before the sore throat i felt generally unwell, very very tired i fell asleep in the afternoon for a couple of hours and woke up still exhausted, i had a fever and a bad headache (wouldnt describe it as a migraine though). the next day i developed a sore throat which only seemed to get worse every day for a week afterards. seriously the mother of all sore throats, i was taking paracetamol and it was only taking the edge off and could barely do anything except sleep.

I did also notice a sore swelling in my groin area maybe 2 weeks before the throat that went after maybe a week.

so our symptoms seem kind of similar other than the migraines and dizziness (i might have been slightly lightheaded but not really), so i would guess that theres a good chance you'll be getting the sore throat with massive tonsils, fever and night sweats soon unfortunately

and i also would say that taking vitamins, eating healthy and taking lots of fluids is good for glandular fever and may speed up recovery but if youve got glandular fever i doubt those things will prevent you getting the sore throat etc.
